The London Walk for Skin is a sponsored walk in Kensington Gardens that takes place in order to raise awareness of various skin diseases. Bringing together celebrities and members of the public alongside well known skin charities to raise vital funds for research into skin diseases, the London Walk for Skin is a chance for all Londoners to make a difference.
London event in Kensington Gardens
Organised by the British Skin Foundation, there will be many walks for skin taking place all over the UK in the spring, including events in Cardiff, Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow and Leeds. The London Walk for Skin takes place in Kensington Gardens and celebrates healthy skin while allowing your skin to breathe in the fresh air on your walk.
Join the crowds
Thousands of people stepped out to support the third walk against skin disease in the 2008 Walk for Skin in April last year, which was heralded a huge success by the event’s organisers. The event raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for the British Skin Foundation and the other charities who took part, and money raised this year will also go towards research for skin disease, as well as helping to care for and help those affected.
Denise van Outen
This year the London Walk for Skin aims to raise a significant amount to contribute to the overall funds raised by the national event. Walk for Skin 2009 is supported by Denise van Outen, who will be launching the campaign in Kensington Gardens on the 10th May.
All welcome
As all of the Walk for Skin routes are three to six miles long, they should be fairly managable even if you're not a super healthy sports fanatic. Children are welcome too, so the whole family can take part; the organisers just ask that each adult on the walk raises at least £20.00 in sponsorship.
