Last Tuesday Society Valentines Ball
Loss - an evening of exquisite misery
The Last Tuesday Society takes it upon itself to remind everyone that romance is not all its cracked up to be with the Loss Valentines Day ball, courtesy of Hendricks Gin. With a seminar on how to deal with a broken heart by The Independent's Agony Aunt Virginia Ironside, and many other depressing and miserable acts on show, visitors to the Loss Valentines Day Ball will be asking themselves if it's all really worth it by the end of the night.
Decaying beauty
With a strict dress code of decaying beauty, perhaps you might like to take some inspiration from Miss Haversham and come wearing a moth eaten, raggedy old wedding dress. Dead flowers, mascara stained cheeks, and your grandad's old mourning coat are also bound to be met with sombre nods of approval. Smiling and laughing are thoroughly discouraged at the funeral to love and hope - there's a £1.00 fine for anyone caught flashing their pearly whites in a shameless grin.
Live acts
Performances on the saddest night of the year come from Ophelia Bitz and Dickie Beau, who have specially
commissioned miserable shows, a meeting of the Sad Poets Society and morose music from the last 500 years. Making you weep copious tears will also be the Russian band Mazaika and the onion chopping antics of Viktor Wynd.
Get mad and even
To prove that revenge and not love conquers all, there will be a voodoo doll making session so you can stick pins in a likeness of your former beloved. And to put the final nail in the coffin of your romance, you can book to sign your divorce papers live on stage throughout the night.
Hendricks Kissing Booth
It's not all doom and gloom though - this year the Loss Exquisite Misery Ball will feature the Hendricks Kissing Booth, a glorious ode to Victoriana and the chance to kiss love's young dream the kiss of life - literally. So dart inside the Kissing Booth to escape the miserablist crowds and pucker up for a smooch with someone special - if it all ends in tears, you'll at least have loads of company.
If you would like to shun all affectations of romance and cast aside any feelings of love or joy, then you can buy tickets for an evening of Exquisite Misery at the Loss Valentines Day ball by clicking on the link below.
