Bringing the best of Czech cinema to Britain, the Made in Prague film festival in London showcases the most popular and critically acclaimed Czech documentaries, comedies and dramas. Starting in the capital and then touring the rest of the country in 2009, the Made in Prague festival London screenings will be held at the Curzon Renoir, Ritzy Picture House in Brixton and Greenwich Picturehouse.
Made in Prague Film Festival London
Before touring major British cities including Liverpool, Edinburgh, Oxford, Cambridge, York and Exeter, the Made in Prague film festival London leg will feature special screenings of films by Oscar winners, Czech box office hits and the best in Czech indie cinema. The festival kicks off with a screening of the award winning Rene, a documentary following the chaotic life of a young man as he see saws in and out of prison and struggles to conform to social norms and expectations. The screening on Friday 6th March will be followed by a question and answer session with the director Helena Trestikova.
Citizen Havel
Also appearing at the Made in Prague Czech film festival and marking the 20th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution will be Citizen Havel, a documentary following the presidency of Vaclav Havel, a former playwright and leader of the Velvet Revolution. Empties, a romantic comedy that was the biggest box office hit in Czech history when released, will also be given a special UK screening at the festival.

The Made in Prague film festival will be held at the Curzon Renoir from Friday 6th March - Sunday 8th March, Ritzy Picture House in Brixton from Sunday 8th March - Sunday 3rd May, and Greenwich Picturehouse from Sunday 22nd March - Sunday 26th April. Click on the links below for venue information.
