Maggies Culture Crawl

Maggies Culture Crawl

Friday 19th September 2014

Start location: Victoria Embankment Garden. End location: Southbank Centre

Get into the late night arts scene with Maggies Culture Crawl this September, as the charity once again heads out for a part night-walk, part cultural adventure around London. The event is based on the previously popular London Night Hike, organised by Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres charity in conjunction with the Open House London architecture weekend, and is a fantastic opportunity to see the streets of London lit up at night and contribute towards a seriously good cause.

Cultural London
For 2014, those who take part in Maggies Culture Crawl will be embarking on a 15 mile hike around the streets of London, enjoying some of the most impressive and immediately recognisable buildings in the city. Walkers will also get to see some of the capital’s cultural gems, such as the Serpentine Sackler Gallery, Fulham Palace and the Southbank Centre.

Arts highlights
Starting at night and going all the way up until sunrise, you can be sure that this event is going to be packed full of activities and each one of the buildings you’ll see during Maggies Culture Crawl will be hosting food and entertainment exclusively for those taking part in the late night walking event. You can see performances from musicians, dancers and artists along the way, and the journey will include a stop off at Maggie's West London Centre, with other highlights including venues such as the Chelsea Physic Gardens.

The finish line
The journey for the fastest walkers is expected to last till around 11.30pm, however the finish line will be open till 6am at the Southbank Centre, so you can enjoy the stroll at your own pace. You can enter alone or as a team and you can also bring your family and friends along to support you, though they won’t be allowed access into the venues.

Charity crawl
Maggie's Centres offer free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends, providing an invaluable job for individuals and their families dealing with this terrible illness. Last year’s walkers raised more than £460,000, and with each entrant expected to raise a minimum of £250 each, this year's Culture Crawl is set to raise even more, and by participating or sponsoring someone who is taking part, you can make a real difference to thousands of sufferers.

Maggie’s Culture Crawl takes place on Friday 19th September 2014. You can start at either 6.30pm or 7pm. Registration for individuals costs £40.00, with savings if you enter as teams of 10 or more. For more information and to register for the 2014 events, click on the link below.
