Craft and design fans of all ages can get some inspiration on how to reuse and recycle at the Make Do and Mend exhibition London. The free show at the V&A Museum of Chilhood includes work by local school children alongside contemporary designers, who have all worked their creative magic on items to give them a new lease of life.

Make Do and Mend exhibition London
Based around the 1943 book of the same name, the Make Do and Mend exhibition London event explores the drive to get the most out of rationed items such as food and clothes during the Second World War. With obvious parallels to the environmental and economic concerns of the present day, the display at the V&A Museum of Childhood aims to put a modern spin on the recycling ethos of the original campaign.

Waste not, want not
If you've always felt a pang of guilt at the thought of how much stuff ends up in your bin, then the Make Do and Mend exhibition London event aims to give you some ideas on just how much potential there is in the things we throw away. From salavaged plates to transformed broken shopping trolleys and reused jumpers, the Make Do and Mend show takes recycling to a whole new level.

Contemporary designers
Designers with work on show in the exhibition include Jon Male, Lou Rota and Max McMurdo. Work by schoolchildren from the local area will also be on show at the V&A Museum of Childhood.

The Make Do and Mend exhibition London event runs from Saturday 13th June - Sunday 15th November 2009. The exhibition is free to attend.
