Sample some of the best Malaysian street food available outside of Kuala Lumpur during Malaysia Night at Trafalgar Square. The free food festival features stalls from around 20 Malaysian restaurants as well as a programme of live entertainment.

Malaysian street food
From satay and laksa to masi goreng and beef rendang, there is plenty to keep foodies happy during Malaysia Night at Trafalgar Square. Around 20 restaurants will be serving up their signature and specialist dishes, and you can also refresh at tea and juice stalls during the event. Foodies visiting the Awana stall will be able to sample the restaurant's delicacies for free, including spicy noodle soup, Malay spiced coconut beef and satay.

Arts and crafts
As well as the chance to sample traditional Malaysian drinks and cakes during the festival, you can also buy ingredients so you can create authentic Malaysian inspired cuisine at home. Stalls will be selling fragrant herbs, spices, pastes and sauces for Malaysia Night at Trafalgar Square, as well as traditional Malaysian arts and crafts.

Live entertainment
Inbetween browsing all the market stalls at Malaysia Night at Trafalgar Square, you can watch a variety of traditional and contemporary performances on the main stage. The free festival at Trafalgar Square is inspired by the tradition of Pasar Malam, the night markets that are a crucial part of Malaysian food culture.

2011 highlights
Visitors to the 2011 festival will be able to catch a fashion show featuring traditional Malaysian clothing, as well as showcase of dancing from the Terengganu region of Malaysia. Other events taking place at the festival include traditional Gamelan music performances, as well as martial arts demonstrations.

Malaysia Night at Trafalgar Square runs from 3pm - 10pm, Friday 23rd September 2011. Admission is free.
