Total waste of time and money. I read the reviews when my friend told me that she had made a booking in this place and it sounded wonderful. however the food was average. In case you are a vegetarian and go for a Corn starter - I request you to stay away from it. Its absolutely worthless. We had quite friendly waiters but they seemed to be busy with a lot of people milling. The main course was ok but i feel its over pricey. It was packed at 7.00 (for being middle of the week) but i just dont see the point why people write good reviews about this place.
If you want some good thai food - stay away from this place.

The best Thai restaurant by a mile!

The food, service and atmosphere are always perfect when i visit.

I only found out the other day that Awana Malaysian restaurant is their sister restaurant. That is not a surprise as Awana is another fantastic restaurant!

All the dishes are presented so well at Mango Tree. The food was cooked to perfection and left us all very impressed.

I will definitely be returning again soon!

I went to the Mango Tree on last Thursday. And we had a mixed skewers and Scallops for starter. The scallops were out of this world, although the portion was rather small. For mains we had the Pad Thai Chicken and Lamb Massaman Shanks. The shanks were lovely but the Pad Thai okay. The meal is always nice here but we felt a bit too rushed during the whole experience as we were only allowed a 2 hour window for our meal due to a view card offer. The waiters were too attentive which didn't allow for conversations during the meals etc. But these are small issues as the restaurant itself is beautiful and so is the food.

Way over rated. The place has a good reputation but doesn't live up to expectations. My criticisms. 1) After a friendly greeting, the service goes down hill. Throughtout the meal the service was perfunctory and by the time of settling the bill the waitress couldn't even communicate. I've had better service in McDonalds. 2) Tables are cramped together and the place is too noisy to have a decent conversation. 3) Food was ok but not worth the price. I will not return and would never recommend this to a friend. I give two stars but have could easily slip to one. Over priced, impersonal and mediocre is my summary.

Went to Mango Tree restaurant last night and all i can say is....WOW! The food to the service to the decor was all on top form. Made an online reservation with no hassle what so ever when turning up. If i had to find one negative point, it would be that it is quite expensive but it's definitely the worth the extra i say.

We booked for 8.30pm and received a confirmation email. On arrival they ushered us to the bar where they asked us to wait. They collected us twice to take us to a table and then walked us back to the bar again saying it had been a mistake. and there was no table. 45 minutes later we still didn't have a table, when I complained, the "table coordinator" just flapped around saying sorry and that we would TRY.
When we finally sat down 50 minutes late, it then took us 45 minutes to get a waiter/waitress to take our food order, and to do so I had to stand up and walk over to them to get their attention. Admittedly the waitress I finally got was very sweet and apologetic saying coffee and tea afterwards would be complimentary. Unfortunately however, at the end of the meal they forgot and it was so late by then we just wanted to leave. Food did not make up for bad service and was very mediocre and overpriced.

mango tree sets in a really pretty environment and the menu and food is quite impressive, yet it is not the top notch place it is raving to be all about. It's very nice but not astoundingly so. I agree that the service is ok but not very friendly, as you would expect from such a famous establishment.

I was very, very impressed with Mango Tree from the moment we arrived. The friendly bar staff mixed the perfect drinks to quench our thirst after being in the hot London sun all morning and after we had finished in the comfortable bar area we were promptly seated by the very friendly waitress.

The menu was well laid out with a good selection of various types of Thai cuisine but it still didn't take long for me or my partner to choose our dishes. They came beautifully prepared and tasted absolutely delightful.

From the presentation of the food and the venue to the accompanying service - I could not fault Mango Tree. Very highly recommended!

Mango Tree is probably the best venue I have been to in London with a great atmosphere, immaculate service and food to die for. The seared tuna salad and monkfish yellow curry were an absolute delight. We enjoyed a thoroughly enjoyable dinner and I cannot recommend the Mango Tree enough.

Having wanted to eat at Mango Tree for sometime, when a friend and I finally found the time we were bitterly disappointed.

We were kept waiting for our booked table for nearly an hour (although the bar area, which we became very familiar with, was very nice with fabulous cocktails), and when finally seated none of the waiters bothered to give us a menu or take our drinks order.

The service at Mango Tree didn't improve throughout the meal. The food itself was very nice - but not as excpetional as we had been led to believe, and was in our opinion over-priced. For a shared platter starter, a green thai curry with rice, a phad thai, jasmine tea, 2 fruit juices and water the bill came to over £80.00 (including a hefty service charge which we resented).

I wont be going back.

I have been to Mango Tree numerous times and have always found the place to be pleasant and top class. Mango Tree does get busy on weekends but I particularly enjoy the buzz and energy of it all.

On 17th January 2006 I went to Mango Tree and found the restaurant friendly, efficient and good value. However, the opinion of my friend and I was that the English girl on the reception was exeptionally helpful.

The waiters at Mango Tree were friendly although a bit rushed. Looking over the other diners, you got the impression of a lot of satisfied and content people and the wireless headsets all the staff wear did seem to help.

The red wine was reasonable for the price, the gin and tonic excellent and served with lots of ice.
The scallops we had with our starters were fresh and the piquancy of the sauce just right, not too searing but very fresh tasting.
The curry sauce in the main course was delicious - an exceptional blend of spices. The taste transferred you to Thailand for a moment. The squid was crosshatched and cooked till it was easy to eat and not a rubber tyre, the scallops and king prawns similarly were done to the exact optimum, so were a delight rather than a chore to eat.

I would recommend Mango Tree to anyone interested in a romantic night out, or if you enjoy excellent tasting and fresh Thai food. It's no wonder they are the best Thai restaurant in London - the decor, dim lights, not too ornate and feng shuied.
Great for a candlelit dinner for two or to take out a load of mates and go dutch. Try it!

Mango Tree is a nice Thai restaurant but the service could be better (faster running waiters are always a bonus).

They do not bring ice with your water so you need to ask for it. The chicken livers at Mango Tree were fabulous as well as prawns (cooked to perfection, not raw or overcooked) and are well worth the money. On the other hand, I did not find the lamb shanks in red curry sauce particularly wonderful (despite the previous review) as the curry sauce overpowered the lamb, and the pork belly could have used a bit more kick.

The food overall was too good for the price, but beware the drinks, they are unexpectedly pricey. Still, I would definitely go again.

Mango Tree is the best Thai restaurant in London I have ever been to. I highly recommend Mango Tree to people looking for authentic Thai cuisine (especially the lamb shank in red curry sauce which is to die for). The service was very helpful and I will definitely be going back again.

Mango Tree is definitely the worst Thai restaurant I have eaten in for the price. i took took my wife and two little girls there last week for lunch. £180 later and we had only ordered 3 starters and 3 main dishes and 1 bottle of wine. When I asked the head waiter where the chillies were he said incredulously that they rarely put chillies in anything as the western palette doesn't like them! A Thai restaurant that doesn't use chillies? That's like a Chinese restaurant not selling noodles or an Indian restaurant not selling naan bread! Mango Tree is overpriced with very bland food in an admittedly nice setting. If you haven't been to Mango Tree, don't bother!

I'll just agree with the previous reviewers eloquent endorsement. It wasn't the best Thai we've ever had, but it WAS very good, and certainly the slickest venue in which I've eaten soup with prawns, coconut milk and lemongrass. Pricey, so you have to want the atmosphere, since very good Thai is available all over for way less.

Achieving the balance of producing authentic Thai cuisine with meticulous attention to detail, while creating an alluring ambience in exquisite surroundings is a hurdle at which many Thai restaurants fall; however, Mango Tree reaches this equilibrium with consummate ease – delivering the ultimate Thai dining experience.

From the moment you step into the elegantly modern restaurant – situated under the old Enron building on Grosvenor Place – you are treated to a level of service that is quite simply unprecedented, but not at all intrusive.

The food is, in summary, fantastic!
Nice and spicy Thai fishcakes (tod mun pla) were followed by a mouth-watering stir-fried beef dish (nuer pad nam man hoi), which was the culinary personification of perfection, just about leaving enough room for the eagerly awaited finale: the dessert.

Having had many a kow niew mamuang (honey mango with coconut milk and sticky rice) in Thailand, I feel qualified to pass specialist judgement on this dessert; I was not disappointed. In fact, it was the best yet.

All in all, the Mango Tree is an enchanting food-haven for all lovers of fine Thai cuisine, however exacting they may be. You quite simply must visit.
