The Massive Attack Meltdown Festival hits town in June, covering all 21 acres of the Southbank Centre site. With live sets, one off collaborations, DJ sessions, interviews and specially commissioned art, the Meltdown Festival 2008 is sure to be a hot one.

Following in the footsteps of Jarvis Cocker who curated last year's musical extravaganza, the Massive Attack Meltdown Festival sees nine days of live shows and general celebrations in the Royal Festival Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall, and the rest of the Southbank Centre complex. Joining them for their musical festivities are the likes of Yellow Magic Orchestra, Elbow, Grace Jones and Primal Scream.

Crammed full of amazing acts and some stunning collaborations with the band themselves, the Massive Attack Meltdown Festival will no doubt be a full on fortnight of cool events. Reggae music your thing? Get tickets for the Acoustic Reggae Songbook with the best in reggae and roots artists jamming for the night. Fancy dancing at the disco? Five silent disco nights allow you to choose between two DJs sets and dance to your own beat. Whatever your musical preference there will be something to inspire and excite you at the Massive Attack Meltdown Festival.

Film fans needn't feel left out of the mix either as The Night James Brown Saved Boston will be screened on Monday 16th June, and the Vangelis Blade Runner soundtrack will be performed live by the Heritage Orchestra on Tuesday 17th June. The Purcell Room will also be screening the Academy Award winning documentary of the controversial Taxi to the Dark Side, with a post show discussion with the director of the charity Reprieve.

The closing event of the festival will be a performance from Massive Attack themselves as they take over the Royal Festival Hall with one final, full on show. Sure to be up there with the previous curators such as David Bowie and John Peel, the Massive Attack Meltdown Festival will be the Southbank Centre's hit of the summer.
