Masterpiece a Month at Dulwich Picture Gallery

Celebrating the 200th anniversary of England's first public art gallery, Masterpiece a Month at Dulwich Picture Gallery is a year long showcase of some of the most famous and highly regarded paintings in the world.

Presiding Genius
Museums and galleries across the world have loaned works of art to the Masterpiece a Month: Presiding Genius series, from the Prado in Madrid and New York's Met to the renowned Uffizi in Florence. The year long Masterpiece a Month at Dulwich Picture Gallery exhibition is a landmark event for the gallery, which first opened its doors to the art loving public in 1811.

Old masters
With one painting taking pride of place in the gallery's enfilade each month, Masterpiece a Month at Dulwich Picture Gallery gives you the chance to see some of the highlight works from galleries across the world. The twelve painters with art on show include Vermeer, Van Gogh, Constable, Hockney and Gainsborough.

Anniversary events
As well as the loaned works on show as part of Masterpiece a Month at Dulwich Picture Gallery, the institution is also hosting a number of special events to mark its bicentenary. There's the Big Bang family celebration in January, as well as lectures to accompany the highlighted work of art each month.

Masterpiece a Month at Dulwich Picture Gallery takes place from Sunday 9th January - Saturday 31st December 2011. Admission to the gallery costs £5.00 for adults, and is free for children under the age of 18.
