An exhibtion by Mat Collishaw at BFI Gallery takes place during spring 2010 with a brand new collection of work inspired by the late Georgian Armenian film director Sergei Paradjanov.

Mat Collishaw at BFI Gallery
Bringing together sculpture and moving images that echoes the sentiments and style of Paradjanov's films, the exhibition by Mat Collishaw at BFI Gallery takes place as part of a festival of the film director's work screening at the BFI cinema. A fantastic fusion of film and modern art, this is a great chance to see one of the stars of the contemporary British art scene along with some classic arthouse films.

Cinematic art
Visitors to the exhibition by Mat Collishaw at BFI Gallery will be able to see the similarities in style between the artist and the filmmaker. Both are renowned for combining cultural elements, using framing devices and their sensual use of colour, making this the ideal exhibition to accompany a visit to the BFI cinema to see one of Paradjanov's films.

Digital canvas
Much of the artwork on display in the new commission has been assembled by Mat Collishaw in such a way as to replicate Paradjanov's collage style direction. Featuring in the exhibition by Mat Collishaw at BFI Gallery are a collection of antique objects, windows and two-way mirrors, that have been brought together with video footage from Armenia. Projecting the digitally made images onto the articles, the artist has captured the essence of Paradjanov, combining two dimensional film with three dimensional objects.

The exhibition by Mat Collishaw at BFI Gallery takes place from 12pm - 8pm, Friday 26th February - Sunday 9th May 2010. Entrance is free.
