An exhibition of fashion by Matthew Williamson at Somerset House takes over the Courtyard Rooms this winter as the British designer is celebrated in a brand new book. Marking his achievements in the fashion world, the book and exhibition highlight his vivid colours, designs and embellishments, which have become renowned all over the world.

Taking the shape of a multi media exhibition, the displays bring to life various aspects of the new book, with photographs, sketches, quotes, videos and garments all demonstrating the designers talent for creating amazing pieces. Taking various items from the Matthew Williamson archive, the exhibition gives visitors a unique insight into the backstage world of one of the most original designers in business today.
Colourful creations
Having had a solo show dedicated to his first ten years in the fashion industry back in 2007, this is another chance to see fashion as art with the new exhibition by Matthew Williamson at Somerset House. Inviting fashionistas and those with a passion for colour and design to get up close to Williamson's working sketches and mood boards, this is a one off opportunity to see just what makes the designer tick.
Influences and inspirations
From his colour drenched fabrics to detailed beading and embroidery, everything created by this designer conveys his love of the vibrant, the vivid and the exciting. Bringing together textile design drawings, celebrity fashion shoots, sketches and scrapbooks, visitors to the exhibition on Matthew Williamson at Somerset House will be able to see the creative processes behind his designs and explore who and what has influenced him. To cpnplete the dispoay, several key fashion industry bigwigs such as Zandra Rhodes, Diane Von Furstenurg, Paul Smith, Anna Wintour and Lucy Yeomans all comment on the astonishing success of his brand.
The show on Matthew Williamson at Somerset House takes place from 10am - 6pm Wednesday 13th October 2010 - Sunday 30th January 2011 in the Courtyards Rooms. Entrance is free.
