I truly do not understand why this poor excuse for an Indian resturant has four stars , I know it is patronising but anyone that rates Mehek Restaurant has never been to a good curry house. Okay so myself and my partner are big curry fans , him always , I've been coverted from someone who was opposed to shit meat , too much chilli and rude Indians to someone who loves spice and appreciates that Decent Indians are amazing and care about their produce and customers. I took my partner for his birthday to Mehek instead of going to our amazing regular in Crystal palace (the one that coverted me) as it has won awards (years ago) and has great reviews. To begin with we was ignored , finally taken to our seats. Ordered red wine - rank , didnt moan , I am honestly not that way inclined. Ordered Food - I had the chicken and cococut dish , it had no mention of spice , so I asked politely if the chef doesnt mind could it be a level hotter. Any decent curry house will do this for you as they are cooking eat dish fresh anyway. My dish came - really quickly - somebody say bing dinners donei could smell something. Really strong. White pepper. My dinner had been turned into a plate of cheap powder white pepper! I know, you cant even make this stuff up. I asked partner to try , he did and said no need anyway you could smell it! There is no smell that similar to white pepper. I when the waiter came my way , I quitely and politely told him my dish was inedible to which he replyied why have you started eating it! Keeping in mind you come to restuurants when you are hungry. I said to take it back and I will not be paying for my dish. Why O why did they even have white pepper in the kitchen. Bad bad bad. Rude unless you are a business man entertaining clients and god forbid a customers wants spice in their Indian curry!

One of my favourite curry houses in London. The service is great. If you want to light a fire on your palate, try the lamb vindaloo. Talk about HOT.

Can't beat, simple, well priced, well presented, well served. Tasted great. Fantastic place to hide away from the credit crunch. It was surprisingly busy for a Monday evening. Mixed starter was exceptional.

Nice venue, great beer, fantastic food. Must have the special mixed started - a little pricey at £10 but well worth it! Service was good, very attentative, and customising dishes was not a problem. Naan's were soft and fluffy, and meet and fish were cooked perfectly. Would definitely recommend this curry house, and will be going back again.

This was the worst resurant i have EVER been to. THe men in there would not stop looking at me and my mates and made us feel uncomfortable. It was like they had never seen girls before.
I had butter chicken, which was chicken in cream that was it. My friend had a meat platter, which only had 3 bits of meat on it. the price of the food is silly not worth it at all.

You are so right , finally someone who had the same experience as me all the city boys Seemed to be treated just fine , which gives them , their undeserved good reviews. They are rip off merchants who Care About nothing but money.

Mehek has a nice decor, lively atmosphere and good food with average prices for the area. Mehek have good house wines too, matching the food and I would not hesitate to recommend it. The place has won AA Rosette awards twice – this sums it all up really.

I love Mehek Restaurant. I work in the area and have taken many colleagues and friends here and none have been disappointed. The food is excellent and the service is superb. All the waiting staff are extremely friendly and the food is carefully prepared and very well presented. The cuts of meat are clean and full - you never have to worry about what's actually hiding under that curry sauce. It's not the super authentic, somewhat grungy Indian food experience of Brick Lane, but if you are in search of an Indian restaurant that is a bit more refined and still not too expensive, this is definitely the place to go.
