The food is good I'll give them that and the waiting staff are lovely, nothing is too much trouble. The cafe/bar manager however would do well to learn something about customer service from his staff.

We went for a bite to eat and a few drinks for a friends birthday, however when we asked if they could possibly make a special cocktail for our birthday friend the manager looked at us with disdain, said nothing and pointed at the bog standard drinks menu. When we asked if there was something a little more special they could do he again looked down his nose at us, sneered and said "there's a bar down the road that does that sort of thing".

Considering the 5 of us had been in the bar approx 1½ hours and at that point spent in excess of £100 a little civility wouldn't have gone amiss. After this we drank up, paid up and left. You can be assured we will neither be going back there again, nor be recommending the bar to anyone else.

In fairness, it is a pre-theatre bar... what they can do is limited! The restaurant has a far bigger selection, but the bar is really equipped to be creating cocktails! We have been many times and found it a lovely little bar to drink in pre-theatre. Never had any problems with the staff. On the contrary, the manager at the time was extremely helpful and friendly.

Recently popped in on my way back from work, as I had no idea what was inside this unusual building to find a lovely restaurant and bar.

Only minutes from Borough market but with none of hassle of either standing in the street with a beer outside one of the pubs, or the soulless and overpriced restaurants to be found inside the market.

Lovely food, great atmosphere - a lovely little gem of a place, highly recommended.

Menier Chocolate Factory doesn't do what it says on the tin but then if you're looking for a chocolate fountain or somesuch then you're probably not after the excellent food this venue produces.

We had a gorgeous, and very hearty meal at Mernier, where the staff were polite and helpful and the general atmosphere lovely. Recommended.
