Celebrate Easter in traditional style with a rousing rendition of Handel's Messiah at Royal Festival Hall. The iconic South Bank venue is hosting a performance of Handel's famous work as part of a full programme of events for Easter 2012.

Handel's Messiah
Following the hugely popular performance at Christmas by the London Philharmonic Choir, the Southbank Centre venue is gearing up for another recital of Messiah at Royal Festival Hall. This time, the musical masterpiece will be performed by a 300 strong choir that unites voices from north and south London. Leading amateur choirs Hackney Singers and Lewisham Choral Society are joining forces in a performance conducted by Dan Ludford-Thomas.

Choral masterpiece
One of the most well-loved choral works in Western music, Messiah uses lyrics inspired by the King James Bible and Book of Common Prayer to reflect on the role of Jesus in Christianity. The rendition of Messiah at Royal Festival Hall takes the work back to its 18th century roots, and is bound to be a popular event in the music lover's calendar in the run up to Easter.
