Went here on Friday for the Comedy Carnival and it was fantastic. Lovely intimate venue, ideal for stand up and then we stayed for the club after which was lots of fun. Prices for the comedy were really cheap, Pub prices until about 11pm. The venue itself is really nice, the staff are all friendly and once the comedy had finished it got really busy very quickly. Good atmosphere and great music. Would defintley go again.

I went to Metra on Saturday night and I was pleasantly suprised as I have heard mixed reviews! The music was good and the staff were really friendly. Everyone seemed up for a laugh and the atmosphere was lively. Had one of those random unplanned great nights. I definitely plan to go again!

I personally think that the management has changed. Went there a year ago and had a time of my life. But went there before Christmas and will never ever be back. My friends phone got stolen from the VIPs table we were sitting at and when went on to enquire to the manager just got humiliated and taken piss out of from the manager himself. A lot of pervy guys and underage people. And we too have been told the wrong price, and ended up paying more. I relay hope this shithole gets closed down and instead something decent will open there. Would not go even if someone paid me to. Rather stay at home. I advice everyone to stay away, unless u are a scam, pervert or they dont let u in anywhere else.

Cool place, everyone's very friendly for a really mixed crowd and the service was good. Prices were ok for Leicester Sq (£5 for vodka and coke). Music was great and was very busy but you could still get on the dance floor.

I had a really great time at Metra last Saturday; the atmosphere was great and the crowd was really friendly. We had lots of fun on the dance floor dancing to the latest hits mixed in with pure classics. Would definitely recommend the club to anyone looking for an a lively, hassle free night out! I'll definitely be going back.

was down at Metra on saturday night and can really tell the new management know what they're doing! much better than a few years ago, with a busy, yet intimate environment which was perfect for my birthday drinks with me and all of my girls! would definitely recommend booking a table as it works out at a lot better value and you have a place to sit down! will definitely be going back!!!!

A small crowd of us ended up wandering around Leicester Sq last weekend after a works leaving party and we ended up having a real laugh here. An older crowd than I expected (mid to late twenties rather than the 15 year olds hanging around outside some of the other venues). My friend is 25 and she was asked for ID. Music was commercial and easy to forget, but we all had a dance and a number of shots. Apparently I kept having my photo taken with some Japanese girls (I;m 6ft 5 and sure that was the reason rather than popularity). Ended up sharing a table (and their bottles of Belvedere) with a Hen party! A very unpretentious and fun night.

Had a really good night here last Saturday. Fun, friendly crowd and decent music. Bar prices arn't cheap, but I've experienced worse in Leicester Sq and at least the staff smile here, our waitress was fantastic. Would go again next time I'm in London.

Metra is the shittiest club I have ever been to. I went with my boyfriend on Monday, and it was supposed to be a student night. We got there at around 10, and the place was empty. There was only another couple there. On the website, it said that the drinks are cheap, but when they gave us drinks menu, the cheapest thing we could find on it, was a cocktail for almost nine pounds. We stayed until about 11:15, hoping it would get a bit more busy, but it didn't. Stay away from this club, it's a waste of money.

Went here for the first and last time. Absolutely horrendous place. Door staff were extremely rude and arrogant. Cost £10 to get in, when I asked the door staff "I hope its busy in there for that price!" he threw my money back at me and told me to go away, for absolutely no reason!! Unfortunately I was with a birthday group who had already gone in so had to swallow my pride and go in anyway. Drinks were watered down, expensive, atmosphere was rubbish, and was full of obnoxious clientèle.
Truly a horrible place, will be glad never to return. Avoid at all cost!

DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT GO! I have no idea why this website has this club rated at four stars. Listen to the majority of the user reviews! I went on a Monday night (last night) which was supposedly Metra's "student night." We were supposed to get in free before 11 then there were supposed to be drink specials from 1.50...none of that was true. We got there and they made us all pay 3 pounds to get in. They said that the free entry ended at 9, and when we informed them that their website said free entry before 11, they told us a bunch of bullshit about how we were probably looking at their old website. So after some arguing we paid the 3 pounds and they gave us each a slip for a free shot inside (which we then found out that they gave to everyone). The shot was a tiny splash of sambuca with orange juice... Then when we asked about the drink specials at the bar, the bartender said there are none except 3 beers for 10 pounds (which really isn't much of a deal). When we tried to talk to the manager about this, he was a complete asshole. The place was packed with tourists and the music was awful--sounded like something a DJ would play at a bar mitzvah. I can't say this enough--DO. NOT. GO.

I had my bday party at Metra club with few friends and family. Booked VIP area package so my guests could have free entrance but on the night they started randomly charge my guests so half of my guests had to pay to get in and the other half got in for free I was very annoyed. On top of that drinks prices were really high I ordered bottle of Absolute Vodka and they charged me £180 pounds for it ... too expensive.
Music was good though and I like the VIP area but they need to have better management.

Biggest dump, smells of a mixture between BO and sick, the ladies behind the bar are rude and its just a bunch of perverted men ( it was ironic when the song 'too many men came on' ). The only good thing is getting in the vip when you are on a raised platform so you can look down at all the squirming peasants

A waste of time and money! I will never go there again. I paid 10 pounds entry for an empty club and the shots voucher I got, was for nothing. You had to buy first something, to get a shot of fruit juice! Very rude and impolite staff.

I don't know where these other people are going.
I have been to Metra numerous times and have always had the best service and a great night.
Yes there are times when people seem pi**ed off about things but i do think that they have very high/unreasonable expectations.
Metra is a Good club
And I have had many a good night in there and will keep going there.

I actually really like Metra, but only because it is so trashy. If you want a lot of attention and just want to get off your head go to Metra. There are about 20 guys to 1 girl. Everyone wants to dance with everyone. DJ is fantastic and plays requests. It's good fun. I do agree however that guys can get a little...too much, but there are always decent guys around to push them away from you. There is pole, which is always hilarious and I don't think drinks are too expensive.

I followed my work colleagues. I regretted it . Typical west end rip off club. They charge you a massive fee (which increases every 15minutes after 11pm), leaving your coat is compulsory (and pay for it) and you get to be treated like a criminal by the bouncers. The crowd inside...unpleasant, scary at times, you got to protect the girls. Bar serves you £5 beer in a mini plastic bottle and the (unskilled) bartenders gave me something that resembled a 7up when i asked for vodka lime and soda. For the amount you pay you would expect decent music too. Catastrophic fail even here. R&B, hip hop and usual friday night recycled tracks. The unskilled (overpaid) DJ couldn't make it any better with his excited jumping and shouting. Avoid at all costs. Head to East End or Camden for decent nights.

Having gone out last night with a few mates and then ending the night in leicester square we decided to pop into Metra after being approached by one of the promoters of the club, saying it was the only club open till late in the area and was convinced to go in having gone in and then told how much we had to pay we paid the entrance fee and went down stairs loads of people walking out the bar said it was shit, having not been to the club before we decided to go in any way, we entered the dance floor only to be pushed back out the door as i was wearing a jacket and told to put it behind the cloak room having said i did not want to hang it up in to the cloak room i was told i would not be able to enter the club, and my girlmate then being verbally abused and pushed by the bouncer, i would not advise people to attend this club if you wish to have a good night as you are treated disgustingly at this place but if you do go be advised money not worth spent.

This must be the worst club I have ever been to in my entire life. It's your typical West End club. There's people on the street hassling you, trying to drag you in the club (likened to the streets of Ayia Napa or Tenerife). Why the council haven't shut this place down I do not know.

Expensive drinks - around £7 plus for a pint of beer.

Smells awfully terrible in there.

Door staff are so rude.

The crowd was the worst crowd I have ever seen in my life, really bad.

AVOID!

Expensive, bad service, and staff with no manner and lots of attitude.

I went to try Metra club last night, Thursday 14th of October, and it was an absolute mistake. I should’ve just believed the bad reviews on the web.

In short…
• We were lied to about the price.
• We were talked to in a condescending manner.
• We were wrongly accused of dealing drugs.
• We were kicked out even after we were searched and no drugs were found.

First of all, a friend and I were walking by, and a person working for Metra told us that we would be charged £5/person if we went in. We stood in line and went through the security check to find out that it was a lie because they charged us £10/person, and when I told the lady that we were told it is £5/person, she replied, “it's £10, pay or go out.”

We went in anyway, and we went to get a drink. My friend asked me if he could take £10 from me because his bank card wasn’t working. I gave him some money and within a few seconds we were surrounded by bouncers. I assume it’s because my friend is black.

Then were told “if you want to stay here, you’ll have to undergo a search”, so we cooperated and let them search us. When they were almost done, one of them said “I don’t want to finish searching, you have to go now anyway”. I tried to explain that I paid £10 to enter and I barely stayed for a 5 minutes, and £5 for a drink which I only took a few sips from.

They didn’t care and they started pushing me out.

I went to metra with some friends on Monday and had fun.

Music was lovely with chart music being played, until after a certain time where they played hardcore house music that we found boring....hard to dance too.

Drinks were good, though my friend did say that drinks on weekend are expensive, so maybe we went at a good time?

Make sure to bring id, as they are strict at the door.

I read some reviews about afro guy and I saw him with another cute guy dancing sexy, i think he was italian like me lol! They both were amazing and I loved their dances! we were spending more time watching them than taking part lol, but italian looking one seemed to avoid me when I tried to talk to him, maybe they are both gay?

It did get hot inside, but you can take a fresh of breath air outside in the smoking section.

I would come again, maybe during the week as I go movida on weekend.

I read some reviews about this place and to be honest i was thinking better not going since many were negative, especially those that were saying that drinks and entry were expensive. Actually entry was 5£ which was more than ok if you ask me, maybe it's because it was during the week and not a friday.....i liked the place, clean, a/c (not too cold), i agree with the fact that the DJ started with good music after a while, so my best suggestion is to arrive around 23.30/24.00 and you'll have good tunes already spinning on.

I had lots of fun, me and my girlfriend liked the ambient, and yes the guy with afro hair was there as well, i guess he's a resident at the place, cocktails were around 8£ i think and beers around 3£ if i am not wrong.

Maybe they have different prices depending by the day of the week, also for drinks.

Gabrio

30th june 2010 It started slow because of the football on tv but later picked up. We went in before9 so got in free, thank you. The drink were pretty cheap£9 for two drinks. The dj started out with rubbish music but later on got better, playing Dance music,he did improve,i liked the idea of the young lady selling drinks around the bar. That was cute. The woman is the toilet was taking advantage of the girls that were drunk, trying to fleece them for money. Distasteful! There were some loafers there A guy with a big afro and a Chinese one harassing the single girls who didnt like it. They should not be allowed. We were asked to move since it was reserved area which I understood. The poor dancer on the pole tried her best but it wasnt working. The atmosphere was brilliant, the lights were perfect for the club, crowd was mixed was greatlater on the atmosphere became better. One advcie to the dj. Dont wait too late to start playing dance music. We had a good time. Hospital staff will be reserving an area for a night out soon as its great great great so much fun to be had!

This club is the worst I have ever been to in my life! They told me £10 to get in but when we went to the door it was £15! I bought myself and two friends a drink and was charged £51 then my second round was £45.50... not sure why the prices changed! The club was full of men and hardly no girls! The man in the toilet kept harassing me every time I went to the toilet to give him money! Terrible club and over priced, or maybe they just cant use their system as I was severely over-priced!

The drinks were nice and we didnt have to Wait too Long in thw queue as there were 3 bars ready! My friends loved it though as the dj shouted out the B'day girl and just played all the big tracks. Which is what you want on A night out! I'd give it 3/5 but if it didnt smell I'd give it 4/5 because the music was amazing

This review is a little late but I was looking through some clubs in the WestEnd to go to for my mates birthday and came across this awful club. I came here at the beginning of the year for someones birthday and it was a bad experience from stepping up to the the entrance. A guy outside the club handing out drink coupons told us it was £10 to get in, it was £15 but we let that one go. Once downstairs we are told we have to hand our things in at the cloakroom for £2 each item, there was no sign at the entrance saying this. When I went to get my money back as I was not going to spend more money on the cloakroom, I was told that they do not refund. I spoke with the manager who gave me attitude and he said I could not get my money back for myself and friends even though we had not even been on the premises for long. He then said we could put our things in the cloakroom for free and thats was all he was prepared to do. I guess he thought its better to miss out on £10 or so than the £60 we had paid for everyone to get in.

My mood was not the best from this but I thought its my mates birthday so I might as well try and enjoy myself, hard to do when the music was horrendous. The previous reviews about the DJ are completly true. I'm no DJ so for me to be able to tell that the mixing was terrible and the beats were out of time when it came to the transition of tunes means that the DJ is no good. When a song you like comes on, you want to hear it, not stand there wondering how long it will it be played before it is 'mixed' into something else.Bottom line...this is a place to avoid. I know its Leicester Sq and a load of tourist will head there for a night out but to be ripped off like that is unfair.

Went to Metra on Fri 19th Feb. The venue itself is ok, decent size.

The DJ could barely beat match let alone successfully mix two tunes together, quite jarring hearing the tracks jumping around. Also the running countdown to the closing of the bar was way OTT. Without exaggeration he cut the music off about 15-20 times to remind everyone the bars closing in an hour, 30 mins, 20 mins 10 mins 5,3, 2 ,1,1,1,1.

Pricey drinks, but to be expected in LSQ i guess. Bar staff were ok.

Not a great night. Wasn't the worst night out but i doubt i'll be going back
