The Michael Landy exhibition London event is sure to catch the attention of many artists and and art fans around the city, and Michael Landy offers to destroy their art. Whether you have painted or drawn something yourself or you own a piece of art you no longer want, it can all go into the Art Bin exhibition to be disposed of.

Michael Landy exhibition
London witnessed a similar scene of artistic destruction nine years ago as Michael Landy created Break Down, an installation that witnessed the artist destroying every single one of his own posessions, including some artworks given to him by Tracey Emin and Damien Hirst. And now he is intent on getting rid of more art through the Art Bin at South London Gallery.

Art installation or rubbish tip?
Michael Landy has suffered criticism in the past for creating art made from rubbish. One of his rubbish style installations was actually mistaken for real rubbish by a cleaner at one exhibition, and threw it out. Here the Art Bin show will be a little more controlled as Michael Landy himself and his representatives will be the ones responsible for any art destruction.

Into the bin
From 7th December 2009 - 14th March 2010, artworks can be placed into the Art Bin at the Michael Landy exhibition for destruction by the artist. Raising issues about the concept of intellectual ownership, the percieved value of objects and the emotional values which we attach to certain pieces of art, the Art Bin will no doubt cause much consternation amongst artists, critics and the public. But if you have some artwork lying about that you would rather see the back of, perhaps a painting of two kittens playing with wool, then you can apply to have your art put into the Art Bin.

Famous artists join in
Not to be left out of things several big name artists are jumping on the bandwagon, or indeed getting in the bin with Michael Landy. Gillian Wareing, Gary Hume, David Hockney, Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin have all confirmed that their art will be going into the bin for the exhibition, so if they think their art is good enough to throw away, maybe yours is too.

Dispose of your art
Anyone can apply to have their art used in the Michael Landy exhibition, and Londoners will no doubt be keen to have their 15 minutes of fame as they see their posessions used in the show. But will your art be good enough? You can submit your application for the disposal of your art one piece at a time, and then arrange to deliver it to the South London Gallery where it will be placed in the Art Bin, and you can wave goodbye to it forever!
