Join the Million Women Rise march as part of the International Womens Day events. Helping raise awareness of the continued exploitation and violence that women and children face all over the world, including the UK, the march is a chance for women to come together and speak out against discrimination and abuse.

March for justice
Not only is the problem of violence against women something that concerns the majority of countries around the globe, but it still takes place in the UK too, and the Million Women Rise march is part of a campaign to ensure that people sit up and take notice. With only five percent of rapes reported to the police resulting in a conviction and one woman in four experiencing sexual assault in this country, the statistics show that there is still much to be done.

Call for government action
By joining in the women only march, you will be adding your voice to the campaign that demands that the government takes action. Million Women Rise is about making a stance against the abuses that women and children face in Britain and overseas and shouting loud enough that the people in power have to listen.

Empower the kids
Not quite convinced? Million Women Rise and International Womens Day is not just about grown women. Many of the frightening statistics relating to abuse and violence also relate to children, which is why the march is for women and children only. Two million girls between the ages of 5 and 15 are abducted, coerced, sold or trafficked into sex slavery every year internationally and over two million females are killed before or at birth simply because of their sex.

Know your rights
The Million Women Rise march not only wants to raise the issues that affect women in the world today, but enlighten people as to the horrors affecting baby girls and young women that also need to be stopped. Add your voice to the masses on the march over the weekend, and you could be making a real difference.

The Million Women Rise march takes place from 12pm, Saturday 3rd March 2012. Meet on Orchard Street, outside the Selfridges Food Hall. The march then proceeds to Trafalgar Square. For more information, click on the link below.
