From world class juggling to elegant street dance, catch some first rate wordless performances as part of the mime festival at Royal Opera House. The Covent Garden venue is hosting shows by the famous Gandini Juggling company as well as multidisciplinary artist Hiroaki Umeda over six days.

Hiroaki Umeda
The first performance to take place as part of the mime festival at Royal Opera House is Haptic + Holistic Strada, performed by Tokyo based performer, sound artist and lighting designer Hiroaki Umeda. The two works combine contemporary street dance and butoh movements with bright colours and strobe lighting to create a memorable multi-sensory experience.

Haptic + Holistic Strada by Hiroaki Umeda takes place from 7.45pm, Monday 16th January - Tuesday 17th January 2012, and is suitable for ages 12+. Tickets cost £7.00 - £16.50.

Gandini Juggling
Nine performers, 80 apples and a kitchen's worth of crockery are combined in the Smashed show by the Gandini Juggling, which has been inspired by the work of influential choreographer Pina Bausch. Originally designed as a short outdoors work that appeared at the National Theatre's Watch This Space festival, Smash has now been expanded into a full length work which is receiving its premiere at the mime festival at Royal Opera House.

Smashed by Gandini Juggling takes place from 7.45pm, Wednesday 18th January - Saturday 21st January 2012, and is suitable for ages 7+. Tickets cost £7.00 - £16.50.

City-wide festival
The performances for the mime festival at Royal Opera House take place as part of the city-wide London International Mime Festival, with other venues such as the Roundhouse, Barbican and Southbank Centre all hosting shows. The festival celebrates the very best in wordless theatre from around the world, from circus acts and puppetry to mask theatre and live animation.
