As the Modern Toss exhibition London event hits town you can expect the level of swearing in the vicinity to increase proportionately to the number of visitors the gallery receives as Mr Tourette and his friends go all out to celebrate their hilariously rude comic art.
Modern Toss exhibition
London is no stranger to bad behaviour and rude words, as being at the heart of the punk scene back in the day saw to that. But if you are someone who is easily offended, look away now as the Modern Toss 2011 Seasonal Blow Out opens its doors for business.
Cartoons for grownups
For those not in the know, Modern Toss is a distinctly grownup cartoon comic featuring rude, aggressive, offensive and generally unpleasant characters - all of which have the redeeming feature of being extremely amusing. Having been created by Jon Link and Mick Bunnage back in 2004 simply in book format, the series has gone on to expand into several editions, a regular slot in The Guardian and have its own television series. Now you can see all the very best and most unsavoury bits in the Modern Toss exhibition London event.
It is big and it is clever
With swearing and generally being offensive part of their core objectives, the people behind the Modern Toss exhibition are inviting you to come down to the gallery and join in with their sordid fun. Crammed full of brilliantly badly drawn cartoons and surreal rudeness, regular characters such as Mr Tourette and the Drive-by Abuser are joined by the new creation, Business Mouse, and they are all out in force to demonstrate just what they do best on canvas.
Join in
Not that we're suggesting you go about the streets yelling obscenities and behaving in an unseemly fashion, but a little bit of swearing can be good for your health. The Modern Toss exhibition organisers are inviting visitors to the gallery to have a go on the interactive talking Periodic Table of Swearing. There is also the chance to pop into the specially created Portrait Booth and take home a picture of your face drawn by either Mick or Jon. With a range of multi-functional non-specific protest posters and a bespoke swear jacket also on sale, this could be your chance to own a genuine piece of the Modern Toss canon.
The Modern Toss exhibition, Modern Toss Seasonal Blow Out takes place from 10am - 6pm Friday 9th December - Sunday 18th December 2011 at Imitate Modern gallery. Entrance is free.
