I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling a bit let down by what I expected to be a magical experience! To be seated on a cramped uncomfortable folding chair after paying £55 made me feel ripped off before it began. Our view was fine but, as mentioned, the positioning of the subtitles meant you couldn't simultaneously watch and read at the same time. Also, there seemed to be an assumption that the audience would automatically know the story very well. Those, like myself who are not that familiar with the details of the story, would be totally bewildered! I had to rely on my husband, an avid fan of the tv show, to explain what was going on! The first part, in particular, was very muddled and lacking in a coherent story! I think Damon Albarn was trying to be a bit worthy and, as a result, created something not immediately accessable to the audience. The "Gorillaz style" animated characters used to promote the show are misleading as they bear not resemblence to the live characters. Any fans of Gorillaz expecting a contempory, urban take on the story would be in for a bit of a shock. The animated sequences shown during scene changes seemed unconnected with the performance. I also feel they could have made more of the front of house area. It was described as "monkey's world", with the ticket announcing "the journey begins at 6.30, show begins 8.00" leading people to believe you would be entering some magical kingdom with something of interest. I imagined entering a place decorated to look like Monkey's kingdom, perhaps with stalls selling Chinese street food, gifts etc. Instead it was a black tent with a bar, a food area and a bloke selling t shirts! I'm glad we ate outside and didn't enter at 6.30 as we would have been hanging around for a long time with nothing to do as there was no re entry! Altogether very disappointing despite great performances.

I can't really review the show as I couldn't see what was happening due to the awful seating layout. We booked tickets that were supposed to be in front of stage but it turned out that these were actually at an impossible viewing angle to the side in front of the orchestra pit. Many people were complaining and were relocated. The whole seating organisation was a shambles. Lots of people were still moving about 10 minutes in to the already delayed show. Even in our new seats it was impossible to see (the height between rows of seats is very small). The seats were also made of hard plastic and were very uncomfortable. We left at the interval. It's the first time I have ever left any show before the end. Very disappointing. My advice if you really want to go is to take a periscope and a cushion.

I fully agree with this comment i was there on the 8th and was appaled by the seating arrangement, especially whn i had forked out over £75 each for two tickets (yes direct, not from unofficial sources), as I wanted a good sea near the front. for that kind of money you at least expect to get a comfortable cushioned seat, rather than what was a make shift mechano like seats which were very hard. the seats must haver been made for a primary school as i had to sit there for over two hours with arms in lap as there was no arm room.

The show it self was good, but they had not advertised it was to be subtitled, as it was all in well not english. There were screen to each sode of the stage that showed what the actors were saying or singing, but if you read it, you would miss what was going on on stage. the screen should have been situated for better reading and in a way you would not miss what was going on.

It is in my view, not wrtht the money it cost to see and I would have preferred to have gone and seen a proper more entertaining and comfortabel show to spend over two hours watching. I think theofficial reviews done by the artsy fartsy types have been very very over rated.
