Join the morris dancers at Southbank Centre for a weekend full of music, dance, art installations and more special events challenging the current image of the morris dancer in popular English culture.

David Owen
Centred around a large scale installation by pop artist David Owen which brings an anarchic edge to the conventional image of the morris dancer in modern society, the convention of morris dancers at Southbank Centre features barnstorming concerts, folk gigs and a variety of free events. Not just for confirmed fans, the mini festival invites everyone to get involved with morris dancing and other traditional native dances, and takes place after 1000 life sized cut outs of morris dancers are put on display across London.

1000 Morris Dancers London

The Demon Barber Roadshow
Other highlights of the 5000 Morris Dancers Weekend include a concert by The Demon Barber Roadshow, which sees the winners of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award for best live band, The Demon Barbers, team up with some of the most energetic traditional dancers around.
