Taking place as part of an eclectic mix of classical concerts, free music at Foundling Museum is scheduled for selected lunchtimes throughout 2009. The concerts are free to attend after you pay the standard museum admission ticket, and is perfect for lovers of live classical music.
Classical music at Foundling Museum
On the first Thursday of every month, the New London Orchestra will be performing live music at Foundling Museum as part of their Young Performers Concert Series. Taking place from 1pm - 2pm on Thursday 7th May, Thursday 4th June, Thursday 2nd July, Thursday 6th August Thursday 3rd September and Thursday 1st October, the New London Orchestra concerts includes performers such as Yoo Yeon Sir on violin, Laura Lucas on flute, and mezzo soprano singer Charlotte Stephenson.
Beethoven Piano Society of Europe
Also making tregular contributions to the classical music at Foundling Museum offerings will be the musicians of the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe. The concert on Thursday 21st May will feature arrangements of Beethoven, Debussy, and Muczinski, while the Thursday 18th June show will include Betthoven's Dressler variations and Allegretoo in E flat for Piano Trio. The final date for the Beethoven and youth concert series is Thursday 16th July.
Operatic arias
Other notable dates in the lunchtime concerts at Foundling Museum series include a special performance of Vivaldi and Handel operatic arias on Wednesday 20th May, which features counter-tenor Cenk Karaferya's interpretation of castrati arias. Work by Handel will also be performed by the Ottowa Bach Choir on Thursday 11th June, alongside pieces by Monteverdi, Palestrina, and Bach.
The lunchtime classical music at Foundling Museum runs from 1pm - 2pm on selected dates from Thursday 7th May - Thursday 1st October 2009.
