Head to the Music Village at Victoria Park for a weekend of vibrant and diverse music from across the globe. The free festival is part of the World City Music Village project, which is hosting a series of live gigs and free concerts across London this summer.

Global beats
Showcasing the very best in world music and global beats, the music village at Victoria Park is hosting everything from gypsy string music from Poland to Bangladeshi folk diva songs and a Congolese six piece band. Performances start on the hour, every hour, which means that you're sure to find something to inspire and entertain you throughout the free festival.

Festival highlights
Highlights of the 2010 line up include Irish singer songwriter Terence O'Flaherty and Cuban big band Chacon Y Su Timba. Other acts taking to the stage at the music village at Victoria Park include Jamaican female Muslin rappers Poetic Pilgrimage, Sudanese vocal act Adel Elbrary and Zimbabwean modern jit-jive outfit Harare.

Get dancing
Plenty of the bands playing at the music village at Victoria Park will be playing music that demands to be danced to, so prepare to spend your summer's afternoon throwing some shapes to some truly irresistible beats. Get moving to Balkan and Middle Eastern dance music from Mukka, follow the lead of the energetic members of Congolese favourites Kasai Masai, or sway to the sounds of traditional Colombian salsa big band Conjunto Sabroso.

12 days of music
Following the Victoria Park weekender, the World City Music Village festival continues with workshops and concerts at venues such as the Museum of London and the Horniman Museum. The city wide festival ends with another free alfresco concert, this time in Hyde Park.

The music village at Victoria Park is open from 1pm - 9pm daily, Saturday 3rd July - Sunday 4th July 2010. Admission is free.
