The Natural History Museum ice rink is one of the most atmospheric ice rinks in London, set as it is beneath the imposing facade of the famous building in Kensington. Stunning by day and magical at night, the Natural History Museum ice rink is a hugely popular venue for festive fun over the winter.

Skating for kids
Covering over 900 metres of ice, the Natural History Museum also sports a smaller ice rink that caters for younger skaters. Only 100 metres wide, this junior rink is the perfect place for little feet to get to grips with the slippery surface without fear of getting in the way of the faster skaters.

Festive fun on the ice
Skating is set to be one of the most popular pasttimes for winter 2008 and 2009, and the Natural History Museum ice rink will no doubt be busy with warmly dressed skaters, sailing around the ice and enjoying the festive atmosphere. For those in need of a little refreshment after their exertions, the Cafe Bar is right next to the ice rink, meaning you can grab a hot chocolate or a mulled wine to warm yourself up.

Christmas fair
Not only is the Natural History Museum ice rink open throughout the festive season, but the Christmas fair is located there too. Take a wander through the stalls, browse the gifts and unusual wares, and you could be coming home with most of your Christmas shopping done after your ice skating session! Who says you can't have fun and be efficient with your shopping, all at the same time?

Wheelchair users
The Natural History Museum ice rink also caters for wheelchair users, and there are three special sessions taking place throughout the season. These take place at 6.3pm on Monday 17th November, at 4pm on Tuesday 2nd December and at 10am on Sunday 18th January. For more information on these sessions, phone 0870 4000 601.

The Natural History Museum ice rink is open from 10am - 10pm Monday to Friday, and 8.45pm - 10pm Saturday and Sunday, from Thursday 6th November 2008 - Sunday 18th January 2009. To book tickets for this event, click on the Buy Tickets button below.
