Notting Hill Carnival Safety

Notting Hill Carnival Safety

When

Sunday 28th August - Monday 29th August 2011

Where

Notting Hill

The Notting Hill Carnival promises a weekend packed full of music, processions and fun events for all the family. However, as with all large public events there are general points to remember to ensure the event runs as smoothly and safely as possible.

1. If you see an unattended package or bag during the Notting Hill Carnival make sure that you report it to the nearest police officer or a member of the Public Safety Team for the Notting Hill Carnival. In light of recent events, the police would much rather you report a package or bag rather than take a risk so please don't feel that you are bothering them unnecessarily.

2. Arrange to meet family and friends before entering the Notting Hill Carnival area and arrange a set meeting place in case you lose each other in the crowds.

3. Check arrangements for your return journey before leaving for the Notting Hill Carnival.

4. Bear in mind that if you are planning to move around the Notting Hill area during the Notting Hill Carnival it may be easier to make your return journey from a different tube station or bus stop to the one you arrived at.

5. If you are only travelling a short distance, it may be quicker to walk.

6. Go with the flow of the crowd - don't try to walk against it.

7. Always be aware of your possessions, pickpockets will be attracted to the large crowds of people attending the Notting Hill Carnival.

8. Keep your belongings with you at all times during the Notting Hill Carnival and do not bring valuable items with you or wear expensive jewellery.

9. Don't carry too much cash or carry credit cards on you.

10. To avoid congestion, try to arrive at the Notting Hill Carnival early and leave early.

11. Make sure you drink plenty of water.
