Oedipus tickets are now available to see acclaimed Hollywood actor Ralph Fiennes heading to the Olivier Theatre at the National to play the eponymous role. Oedipus tickets will enable you to see Sophocles’ classic tragedy, re-imagined by celebrated writer Frank McGuinness in what looks set to be one of the definite highlights of the theatre season.
Oedipus tickets will enable theatre fans to see some corking talent both on the stage and behind the scenes. Ralph Fiennes stars alongside Alan Howard as Teiresias and Clare Higgins as Jocasta, actors whom both boast a rich history in film, television and on stage. Jonathon Kent will be directing proceedings, ensuring that Oedipus tickets will enable you to see even more talent working with Frank McGuinness’ new production.
Fiennes takes the title role as Oedipus, the man charged with lifting the plague that’s afflicting Thebes, and who unwittingly sleeps with his mother and murders his father, creating one of the most well known plays in the history of literature. Oedipus marks Fiennes’ eagerly awaited return to the National Theatre, and is sure to serve up one of the most popular productions of the year.
Fiennes is perhaps best known for starring in some of Hollywood’s biggest films, including the Oscar winning film, The English Patient. However, he also boasts considerable stage pedigree, starring in Hamlet, Ivanov, Brand, Julius Caesar and the recent smash hit from Yasmina Reza, God of Carnage.
