Explore the unique culture of the most south westerly islands of Japan at Okinawa Day at Spitalfields Market. With free performances, food stalls and more, there's bound to be something to interest all ages.

Live performances
Celebrating the Ryukyu culture of the Okinawan islands of south west Japan, Okinawa Day at Spitalfields Market features live performances showcasing the region's distinctive music and dance. Both kids and adults can look forward to folk and classical songs, along with performances on the sanshin lute, drumming and eisa dance.

Supporting Japan
Okinawa Day at Spitalfields Market 2010 was a huge success with over 7500 visitors. This year looks to improve on that and create a truly unforgetable experience. A special theme 'Chibariya Tohoku! Chibariya Japan!' has been created to support people from Tohoku who suffered during the earthquake that hit on 11th March 2011.

Exhibition
As well as all the live performances and market stalls, Okinawa Day at Spitalfields Market also features an exhibition of photos, drawings and paintings. Visitors can discover more about the history of Okinawa and even watch some dynamic Okinawa karate demonstrations, too.

Okinawa Day at Spitalfields Market runs from 11am - 7pm, Saturday 25th June 2011. Admission is free
