Olympic Flag at City Hall

As London is now the official Olympic city, you can see the Olympic flag at City Hall as it will remain in residence until the 2012 London Olympic Games. A historic and instantly recognisable symbol of the games, no doubt many people will be queuing up to see the Olympic flag at City Hall in September.

City Hall will be throwing open its doors over the weekend of Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st September as part of the London Open House Weekend. Open House Weekend is a chance for Londoners to go behind the scenes of loads of famous buildings in the city and take a peak at the most amazing architecture and objects that are normally kept out of sight.

Joining the Olympic flag at City Hall after the end of the Paralympic Games will be the Paralympic flag, both of which mark the Mayor of London's commitment to stage the most inclusive games ever in London in 2012. Both the flags will be raised together to fly outside City Hall at the end of the month once the Paralympic Games have closed.

But before the flag hangs outside the building, the Olympic flag will be on show in a protective case on the lower ground floor of City Hall for one weekend only. Certain to attract thousands of people, the iconic flag, with its five interlocking rings that repesent the five continents of the world, will only be on show in such a close up display for this unique occassion.

The Olympic flag is on show at City Hall from 9.30am to 5.30pm on both Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st September 2008. For more information on Open House London events, click on the link below.
