Catch all the live action with screenings of the 2008 Olympic Games at Trafalgar Square this summer as the Trafalgar Square Festival brings the spirit of Beijing to London. With a mixture of arts, culture and sports taking over the city centre, you will be able to immerse yourself in the Olympic Games at Trafalgar Square and feel as though you are right there in China.

With a giant screen installed at the foot of Nelson's Column, you can see every single minute of the Olympic Games at Trafalgar Square. From Friday 8th August onwards the giant screen will be showing everything from the opening ceremony in Beijing to the closing ceremony and the handover to London.

From 8am to 9pm everyday, all the athletics, swimming, cycling, equestrianism, team sports and gymnastics will be screened live in Trafalgar Square meaning that whenever you are in the vicinity, you don't have to miss a moment of sporting action.

Accompanying the screening of the Olympic Games at Trafalgar Square is the Trafalgar Square Festival which has live arts and cultural events in the square every Thursday to Sunday until the end of August. With the Beijing Olympics as this year's theme, you can expect to see plenty of Chinese inspired performances and art based around sport.

The first week of the festival is entitled China Inspires and will see acts and performances from the Flying Dragon Circus and the Yellow Earth Theatre. Olympic Aspirations is the theme for the second week with the Into the Hoods artists recapturing the spirit of the 1948 Olympics in London, where hip hop meets lindy hop. Week three sees the culmination of the Trafalgar Square Festival with Images of London examining the city in a new light. The last day will also see the official handing over of the Beijing Olympics to London for the countdown to 2012, as the Mayors of the two cities do the honours.

Many of the artists taking part in the festival will use digital imagery and art as part of their act, joining the two experiences together for all the viewers that come to the square for the entertainment. With exuberant performances, amazing sporting skills on show and an atmosphere of great excitement, this is the closet you can get to feeling the thrill of the Olmypic Games without being there yourself. The final act to be seen of the 2008 Olympic Games at Trafalgar Square will be the handover of the Olympic flag from Beijing to London on Sunday 24th August.

The screening of the Beijing Olympic Games at Trafalgar Square will take place from Friday 8th to Sunday 24th August 2008. The Trafalgar Square Festival events take place weekly from Thursday to Saturday, from Thursday 7th to Saturday 23rd August 2008
