London Olympics in 2012
Once the 2008 Beijing Olympics are all done and dusted, it's then London's turn to take up the Olympic flag and fly it for the next four years. From the moment it is handed from the Mayor of Beijing to the Mayor of London broadcast all around the world, London will be centre stage on the Olympic scene until 2012 as the Olympic handover screenings will show.

Olympic big screens
Big screens are being set up all over the country to allows people to see the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympics and the moment that London steps to the fore. Olympic handover screenings will be taking place not just in Canary Wharf, Trafalgar Square, Victoria Park, Shoreditch Park and the O2 Arena, but also in Cardiff, Belfast, Glasgow, Birmingham and Manchester too.

Live entertainment
Celebrating London's fantastic achievement and looking forward to the next four years of Olympic sport, the Olympic handover screening at places like Trafalgar Square and Canary Wharf will also show live the Olympic party at the Mall. Performances by The Feeling, Il Divo, Katherine Jenkins, Russell Watson and McFly will certainly getting the crowd up and dancing, and ready to celebrate the moment that the Olympic flag is handed over to London.

Party atmosphere
Broadcast on BBC1 and BBC Radio 2 also, the Olympic handover screenings in London are just a small part of the overall screenings that will see approximately 1.5 billion people watching the inauguration of London as the next Olympic host city. Whether you are watching the handover from the comfort of your own home, or from the throng of people at Trafalgar Square or at the O2 Arena, you can be sure that the atmosphere will be truly electric.

Singing for London
Mass sing alongs are scheduled for some of the Olympic handover screenings site's, with regional choirs leading audiences through 15 minutes of rousing choruses. So get your voice warmed up and ready to celebrate the arrival of the Olympics in London.

Olympics 1940s style
Shoreditch Park is also showing the handover moment from one Mayor to another, and to mark the occassion is hosting their very own Hackney Handover from 1pm onwards. With a street party straight out of the 1940s, which was the last time the Olympics came to London, the Shoreditch festival will end with live dancing, entertainment and plenty of sport, along with a big screen for you to watch all the official action on.

The Olympic handover screenings take place on Sunday 24th August with various entertainments on offer in each location. The official handover takes place at 2.30pm with entertainment on hand before and after the event. Screenings will take place in Trafalgar Square, Canary Wharf, Shoreditch Park, O2 Arena, Notting Hill and Greenwich.
