To show our appreciation of how well our sportspeople did there will be an Olympics victory parade, London style, as thousands of cheering people will line the streets of the capital to welcome the athletes home. With the Olympics victory parade, London sports fans can cheer the many Olympics participants on as they make a triumphant return to London.

The Beijing Games have been a huge success for us Brits with the medal haul being the best we’ve ever had, so what better way to toast it than a huge Olympics victory parade. London does these kind of things extremely well too, so you can expect a day of national fervour as the stars of the Beijing Olympics parade through the streets to a heroes’ welcome.

Olympic athletes in London
The day of the Olympics victory parade promises to be a special event where the people of London and indeed Great Britain can how their appreciation for how well the athletes and sports stars did. With the Olympics victory parade, London as a city can welcome the guys and girls back home, cheer their success and get ready for the 2012 Olympics safe in the knowledge we’ve got some of the best stars in the world.

Gold, silver and bronze medals
Team GB as our Great Britain team is known have brought home an unprecedented number of medals, and the Olympics victory parade is testament to their success. So whether your favourite moment was seeing Christine Ohuruogo winning the 400 metres; Chris Hoy in the men’s cycling sprint; or Rebecca Adlington’s stunning 400 metre freestyle swimming gold, go show them how appreciative you are that they represented out country so well.

Olympic parade route
Heading off from Mansion House, the Olympics victory parade will leave at 11am with floats crammed full of Olympic heroes. Taking them down Queen Victoria Street and past St Pauls Cathedral, the floats will then go down Fleet Street, past the Royal Courts of Justice, and down the Strand. The parade will then arrive in Trafalgar Square at around 12.30pm, so that you can cheer on your favourite athletes as they assemble on the north terrace. The event will end at approximately 1.30pm.

The Beijing Olympics heroes parade will take place through the streets of London on 16th October 2008, leaving at Mansion House at 11am and ending at Trafalgar Square at 12.30pm.
