Origin at Somerset House

Origin at Somerset House comes round again this autumn bringing you the best in textile and craft design; from glass to ceramic, and knitting to basketry, the Origin craft fair is full of the most creative and decorative objects.

Taking place every October, Origin at Somerset House is renowned for being one of the most exciting places to discover new talent and designers and makers on the up. Crammed with exhibitors, the only problem you may encounter is not being able to decide what to spend your money on.

Organised by the Arts Council and presented as the London Craft Fair, the Origin Craft Fair is an annual event on the Somerset House calendar and features over 300 innovative and creative craft designers, all eager and willing to show off their talent and wares. From traditional craft skills to the most modern and contemporary of designs, there will be something for everyone with a crafty eye at this event.

Choose from functional and useful objects, fashion wear, homewares, decorative and artistic creations, all on show at the fair. Glass, ceramic, jewellery, metal, furniture, paper, wood and textiles will all be represented, ensuring that all craft skills are represented and that Origin at Somerset House is a true celebration of the unique and the hand made.

As well as the fantastic crafts being available to buy, this years’ Origin at Somerset House offers the unusual hands on experience of crafting for yourself. Artist Alinah Azadeh will be creating a large textile structure in the Somerset House pavilion that will grow over the course of the two weeks. Ribbons with written thoughts of Origin visitors will be woven together to form a free standing structure creating a stunning visual record of people’s experiences of the Origin craft fair.
