Origin at Somerset House comes round again this autumn bringing you the best in textile and craft design; from glass to ceramic, and knitting to basketry, the Origin craft fair is full of the most creative and decorative objects.

London craft fair
Taking place every October, Origin at Somerset House is renowned for being one of the most exciting places to discover new talent and designers and makers on the up. Crammed with exhibitors, the only problem you may encounter is not being able to decide what to spend your money on.

The 2009 event
Organised by the Arts Council and presented as the London Craft Fair, the Origin Craft Fair is an annual event on the Somerset House calendar and features over 300 innovative and creative craft designers, all eager and willing to show off their talent and wares. From traditional craft skills to the most modern and contemporary of designs, there will be something for everyone with a crafty eye at this event.

Take your pick
Choose from functional and useful objects, fashion wear, homewares, decorative and artistic creations, all on show at the fair. Glass, ceramic, jewellery, metal, furniture, paper, wood and textiles will all be represented, ensuring that all craft skills are represented and that Origin at Somerset House is a true celebration of the unique and the hand made.

Craft and design highlights
This years’ Origin at Somerset House features a number of eyecatching items from innovative designers, including paper cut Cloud lampshades from Yu Jordy Fu, and stylish ceramic vessels from Jo Davies. Joseph Harrington will be displaying his glass pieces that have been cast from melting ice sculptures, and there will also be textiles from Helena Vaari. Other artists represented at the Origin craft fair include Angela Cork, David Poston, Claire Loder and Christian O'Reilly.

The Origin London Craft Fair runs from Tuesday 6th October - Sunday 11th October, and Tuesday 13th October - Sunday 18th Ocober 2009. Opening times are 10am - 6pm, with late night openings on Thursdays until 9pm.
