Pining for the films from the London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival? Fear not, because great gay and lesbian themed films are back in London thanks to the regular Out at the Pictures series at BFI Southbank.

Craving some decent queer cinema before the Lesbian and Gay Film Festival hits London once again? Lucky for you, the BFI Southbank has gay films in the spotlight with their gay and lesbian film season, Out at the Pictures. Focusing on films by and about the gay community, you’ll want to check them out no matter what your sexual orientation.

Don’t miss
Out at the Pictures celebrates some of the best in world gay cinema at the BFI Southbank with films such as the Swedish lesbian classic in the making, Kiss Me. The May and June 2012 programme also features the follow up to The Naked Civil Servant, An Englishman in New York, which sees John Hurt reprise his role as the iconic diarist, Quentin Crisp.

Out at the Pictures highlights
The screening of An Englishman in New York is followed by a Q&A session with Penny Arcade, who will be on hand to discuss her friendship with Quentin Crisp and the creative atmosphere of New York's Lower East Side. Another event which is bound to be another popular addition to the season of gay and lesbian films at BFI Southbank is the celebration of the life and work of gay porn pioneer Peter de Rome, which includes a new documentary as well as three short films by de Rome, shot in the early 1970s.
