The Oxford Street Christmas lights will be switched on for 2008 in a glitzy London event featuring a selection of guest stars. Londoners can enjoy some of the most famous Christmas lights in the world and welcome the festive season in the heart of the West End.
World famous Christmas lightsThe Oxford Street Christmas lights are among the most famous in the world, each year attracting thousands to the West End over the Christmas and New Year period. A definite highlight of Christmas in London the lights will be switched on in an exclusive celebrity event in November.
See the stars on Oxford StreetThe Oxford Street Christmas lights are traditionally switched on by a line up of popular celebrities, coming out to meet the crowds at the start of Christmas. Last year’s event was hosted by Jamie Theakston, Toby Anstis and Harriet Scott from Heart FM, and this year the sexy Sugababes will be the star attraction on hand to switch on the lights. Performing live at the House of Fraser for the 2008 switch on, you can see the Sugababes as they flick the switch on these iconic lights.
Live music on the nightLive performances on the night this year will also come from a selection of performers but the highlight is sure to be Charlie Francis and his swing band as they play live at House of Fraser too. There will also be live performances from Sophie Ellis Bextor too, and many more.
Christmas shopping on Oxford StreetThis year the Oxford Street Christmas lights will be switched on at House of Fraser, promising the crowds a good view of proceedings and of another special celebrity guest. Make the most of the opportunity to get some Christmas shopping out of the way and browse the 300 plus shops on Oxford Street under the glow of festive lights.
An Enchanted ChristmasThe world famous Christmas Lights on Oxford Street will be celebrated in considerable style with a brand new and exciting theme. The Disney film, Enchanted was released last year and the Oxford Steet Christmas Lights were transformed into an overhead, mile-long canopy of themed illuminations. So you can expect all the magic of Christmas again this year on Oxford Street.
The Oxford Street Christmas lights will be switched by the Sugababes at 6.17pm on Oxford Street at House of Fraser on Wednesday 12th November 2008.
