Encouraging kids, families and shoppers of all ages to reclaim the streets with pedestrian power, the Oxford Street traffic free day takes place in the run up to Christmas 2011. With many of the major stores staying open late and special events to celebrate the festive season over the weekend, there's plenty to catch the eye and keep everyone entertained.

Aiming to transform the West End into a safe playground for children and shoppers, the Oxford Street traffic free day will temporarily ban cars and other vehicles from one of the busiest roads in central London. With many shops offering special prizes, games, and free entertainment, a high turnout of families and Christmas shoppers is expected throughout the weekend.

Bringing a dose of Christmas cheer to the West End of London, the Oxford Street traffic free day features live music, entertainment for kids and families, and shopping offers galore. Major stores such as Selfridges, Marks & Spencer, John Lewis and House of Fraser are also be putting on their own promotions, and special offers, and shops on Regent Street are joining in with all the fun too at the VIP Day, otherwise known as the Very Important Pedestrian Day.

The Oxford Street traffic free day takes place from Saturday 10th December - Sunday 11th December 2011. Oxford Street and Regent Street will be closed to the public, with shops on Bond Street also taking part in special shopping promotions.

The event takes place from 11am - 6pm on Saturday and 12pm - 5pm on Sunday.
