Parkour London Classes

The latest sports craze to literally hit the streets of London is now going mainstream as the Parkour London classes at the Moberly Sports centre in Kensal Rise will testify.

Parkour, or free running as it is sometimes known, is a street based urban sport that sees runners make great acrobatic manoeuvres in the air or on and around pieces of the urban landscape. Recently used to great effect in the latest James Bond film, Casino Royale, the Parkour London classes aim to help kids and adults recreate these impressive moves and teach them more about the nature of free running.

The word Parkour comes from the French Parcours, meaning Course. The primary aim of all Parkour is to overcome the obstacles in the way with running, jumping and climbing style techniques that give the runner an almost magical ability to walk up walls.

Combining both dance and acrobatic elements, the Parkour London classes will help you learn the disciplines of a true Parkour runner and teach you all the moves necessary to navigate your way around the city in the free running style.

Open to all, the Parkour London classes focus on core strength and fitness exercises, and will teach two new moves per class. Tailored to suit all the abilities in the Parkour London class, the sessions are suitable for absolute beginners to the fully experience free runner. Using equipment such as the gym horse, rings, parallel bars, crash mats and padded mats, you will soon be vaulting walls and wheelie bins with all the panache of a practised urban free runner.

As it is similar to a workout class, it is advisable that all particpants wear a t-shirt, comfortable track suit bottoms and white soled trainers.
