Members of the Houses of Parliament are pitching themselves against members of the press during the Parliamentary Pancake Race in London for Shrove Tuesday 2012. The pancake race is raising funds and awareness for the brain injury charity Rehab UK and is taking place in the grounds of Victoria Tower Gardens in Westminster.

Parliamentary Pancake Race London
Politicians might be used to getting battered by members of the press, but they got their own back at last year's Parliamentary Pancake Race London event when peers from the House of Lords won after taking the lead from the Commons and media teams at the last minute. This year, members of the House of Commons and House of Lords will be aiming to improve their game even more and win the pancake race title. Members of the public can watch the race and either boo or cheer on the politians and press, depending on how the mood takes them.

Familiar faces
Star performers for the 2011 Parliamentary Pancake Race included Baroness Garden and Lord Addington, as well as Martin Horwood MP and Steven Pound MP. This year, ITV News anchor Natasha Kaplinsky will be on hand to officially start the race and make sure the particularly ambitions competitors don't pull any dirty tricks such as tripping up other racers.

The Parliamentary Pancake Race in London takes place on Tuesday 21st February 2012 in Victoria Tower Gardens. The race starts at 10.15am. This spectator event is free to attend.
