Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Peeping Tom at Curzon Soho, as the cinema hosts a special screening of the controversial masterpiece, as well as a public interview with Oscar winning filmmaker Martin Scoresese.

Psychological thriller
Now hailed as a seminal British classic, when it was first released in 1960 Peeping Tom was condemned by critics who were shocked both by the film's sympathetic depiction of its serial killer protagonist, and director Michael Powell's pioneering exploration of the voyeuristic nature of cinema. It took twenty years and the efforts of acclaimed filmmakers such as Martin Scorsese for the film to be recognised as a masterpiece, and at the 50th anniversary screening of Peeping Tom at Curzon Soho, you can see the film on the big screen once more.

Martin Scorsese
As well as the screening of Peeping Tom at Curzon Soho, film fans can also attend a public interview with Martin Scorsese, Thelma Schoonmaker-Powell, and one of the original stars of the film, Columba Powell. The interview promises to provide a valuable insight into the making of the Peeping Tom, as well as the later attempts to get Michael Powell's film the recognition it deserves.

The story
Starring Karlheinz Böhm in the title role as well as Moira Shearer and Anna Massey, Peeping Tom follows the story of photographer Mark Lewis as he pursues his horrifying obsession of filming the mortal fear of his victims in the moments before their death. The digitally restored and specially reissued edition of Peeping Tom at Curzon Soho aims to give Director of Photography Otto Heller's images an even greater clarity and allow a new audience to discover a British classic.

The special 50th anniversary screening of Peeping Tom at Curzon Soho takes place from 5.20pm, Saturday 13th November 2010. Tickets cost £20.00 - £22.50. For more information and to book tickets in advance, click on the link below.
