The Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize exhibition is seen as the photography sibling of the BP Portrait Award, and is an annual exhibition of work submitted for the competition by photographers from all over the world.

Free art exhibition
Over 60 portraits were included in the 2010 exhibition from around 6,300 submissions from over 2,400 photographers, making the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize exhibition the largest it has ever been. This year you can expect more of the same, as the prize remains just as popular. Showcasing some of the most talented young photographers, the exhibition highlights their work alongside the portraits of established professionals, students and gifted amateurs.

Award winning images
There were four photographers shortlisted for the £12,000 prize and there is also an additional winner for the Godfrey Argent Award, which is a special prize donated to an outstanding photographic portrait taken by an exhibitor aged between 18 and 25. As always, the competition is stiff and members of the public can judge for themselves which photograph is their favourite by visiting the Photographic Portrait Prize exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery.

Shortlisted photographers
Jasper Clarke from the UK, David Knight from Australia, Dona Schwartz from America,Jooney Woodward from London and Jill Wooster from the US are all shortlisted for the Photographic Portrait Prize 2011 and their portraits are on display in the exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery this year, along with a selection of the other entries before the show went on a national tour. The winner for the 2011 prize is Gentleman Jack and Harriet Power, by Jooney Woodward and there is still a great deal of excitement surrounding all this year's entries.

Exhibition highlights
Highlights of the 2011 show at the National Portrait Gallery include the atmospheric winning portrait of 13 year old Harriet Power and her pet guinea pig Gentleman Jack, taken by Jooney Woodward, and the photograph titled Wen, taken of the Chinese artist by Jasper Clarke. Other portraits shortlisted for the prize include Andie by David Knight, Christina and Mark, 14 Months by Dona Schwartz, and Of Lili, by Jill Wooster.
