Kicking off the 2012 programme of exhibitions, a show based on Picasso at Tate Britain will no doubt be one of the most popular London exhibitions for that year.

Picasso at Tate Britain
Showcasing some of his most famous pieces, the exhibition examines the artist's significant relationship with Britain and several key British modernists, while reflecting on the British public's response to his work. Whether you're a regular attendee of every single London Picasso exhibition or not, this one at Tate Britain is well worth a look for art fans of all ages and tastes.

Picasso and Britain
Entitled Picasso and Britain, the 2012 show presents a mixture of both Picasso's work and that of his British contemporaries. Charting his own career alongside those of several other modernist painters and sculptors, the exhibition of art by Picasso at Tate Britain looks at the responses of his fellow artists to his work, including the likes of Wyndham Lewis, Henry Moore and Francis Bacon.

Influential artist
By comparing the work of Pablo Picasso with his direct contemporaries, this exhibition gives you the chance to draw comparissons between their styles, and see just how much of an influence Picasso really was. Many of the works on show demonstrate a particular influence, while others included in Picasso and Britain highlight a stylistic affinity. As David Hockney was supposed to have visited the Tate's 1960 Picasso exhibition eight times, a selection of various Hockney homages are included in the show.

Exhibition highlights
Featuring over 150 works from both public and private collections around the world, the exhibition by Picasso at Tate Britain includes 60 paintings by the man himself. Highlights of the show will no doubt be the Three Dancers, and key Cubist pieces such as Head of a Man with a Moustache, Man with a Clarinet and Weeping Woman, the latter two of which were acquired by two notable British collectors at the time. Visitors will also be able to examine the work done by Picasso when he spent time in London in 1919, creating the scenery and costumes for Diaghliev's ballet production.

The exhibition by Picasso at Tate Britain takes place from Wednesday 15th February - Sunday 15th July 2012. The exhibition is open from 10am - 6pm daily, with last admission at 5.15pm.

Standard tickets cost £14.00, with concessions at £12.20. Admission is free for Tate members and individual children under 12. For more information and to book tickets, call 020 7887 8888.
