A stunning Picasso exhibition in London is something that thousands of art lovers will be keen to see, and the Picasso and Britain show at Tate Britain is sure to be overwhelmed by visitors during its five month run. Showcasing masterpieces from the star of cubism, the Picasso exhibition looks at paintings that highlight the artist's lifelong connection to Britain.

Picasso and Britain
Entitled Picasso and Britain, the Picasso exhibition London location is the Tate Modern, renowned amongst London's galleries for hosting exhibitions from some of the world's most famous and acclaimed artists. The show examines Picasso's evolving critical reputation in this country as well as British artists' responses to his body of work, giving visitors the chance to place Picasso in the wider context of the history of modern art.

Sources of inspiration
From the beginnings of his painting life Pablo Picasso studied the grand European Old Masters and frequently visited galleries filled with inspirational works. Artists such as Valazquez, Goya, Rembrandt, Manet and Cezanne were crucial influences on his work. But after the Second World War, the artist began to make more changes to his way of working and these stylistic experiments with cubism and the abstract are the focus of the new Picasso exhibition.

London exhibition
London will be home to the various works by Picasso from February to July 2011, with the Picasso and Britain exhibition at Tate Britain charting the artist's reputation as both a source of controversy and celebrity. Over a hundred and fifty works from around the world will go on show during the exhibition, which also examines Picasso's influence on twentieth century British modernism.

Important portraits
Highlights of the exhibition include Picasso's masterful 1925 painting The Three Dancers, which Tate acquired from the artist after his 1960 exhibition. The show also takes a fascinating look at how Picasso's work was both exhibited and collected in Britain during his lifetime, in a chronological display which charts the making of an artistic legend.

British artists
By exploring his relationship with the Britain, the Picasso exhibition also reflects how some of this country's most respected modern artists were shaped by the Spanish painter's work. The exhibition examines the impact Picasso had upon artists such as Duncan Grand, Wyndham Lewis, Ben Nicholson, Henry Moore, Francis Bacon, Graham Sutherland and David Hockney.

Picasso and Britain, the Picasso exhibition London event takes place from Wednesday 15th February - Sunday 15th July 2012. The gallery is open from 10am - 6pm daily. Last admission to the exhibition is at 5.15pm.

Standard tickets cost £14.00, with concessions at £12.20. For more information and to book tickets, call 020 7887 8888. Admission is free for Tate members and individual children under 12.
