Pick Me Up Art Fair London

The Pick Me Up art fair London event is set to bring the hottest and most exciting graphic artists and illustrators to town, to showcase their work and have some seriously arty fun. From open studios and pop up design shops, there is something to please every graphic loving Londoner.

London has its fair share of art fairs throughout the year, but Pick Me Up was the very first contemporary graphic art fair of its kind when it launched in 2010. Making a welcome return for 2012, the fair brings together a whole host of designers and artists and invites you to pop into the studio, see artists at work, do a bit of shopping and browse new and interesting artworks.

Artist in residence
Throughout the 2012 Pick Me Up art fair another exciting and cutting edge artist will be hosting an open studio where visitors can check out their art and watch them at work. Also, new for 2012, is the Daily Specials area, where specially selected legends from the graphics and illustration world will be hosting a day of workshops, where you can be inspired by their own individual style and break out your own graphic skills.

Pick Me Up exhibition
The highlight of the Pick Me Up art fair is of course the exhibition. Allowing you to peruse the artists work, the exhibition features the likes of the Print Club London collective, as well as the It's Nice That studio. All of the exhibitors have been picked by those in the know to represent the best of international contemporary graphic art, so you can expect more of the same again this year. Check out their work and perhaps take home a limited edition print, specially commissioned for the fair by Somerset House.

Pop up art fair events
Bringing more of their contemporary graphic art to the people, the Pick Me Up art fair has invited several art and design collectives to come to the Somerset House for the duration of the fair, to share their art-based wisdom and take part in special hands on sessions. A number of artists will be offering specialist cartoon themed advice for the Cartoons and Comics Weekend, while visitors in need of some advice on their own work can attend the Portfolio Surgery run by illustrators Josie Sullen and Zara Wood, so there will be plenty to keep arty types entertained.

Pick Me Up kids' stuff
New to the fair for 2012 are the children's illustration weekends where the best illustrators in town will get creative before your kids eyes as their help them create work of their very own. Not just for anklebiters who already have a passion for drawing, this is the perfect chance to get your kids inspired by the world of graphic art and see what wonderful creations they can come up with.

The Pick Me Up art fair at Somerset House takes place from 10am - 8pm, Thursday 22nd March - Sunday 1st April 2012. Tickets are £12.00 for a Pick Me Up season ticket, £8.00 for adults, and £6.00 for students, OAPs and children. Under 12s are free.
