Make the most of the summer by treating yourself to one of the picnics and plays at National Theatre when The Deck opens to the public for a limited time.

Picnics and Plays at National Theatre
Combining a rooftop picnic with a play within one of the theatres at the famous South Bank venue, the picnics and plays at National Theatre season offers the chance to dine alfresco on The Deck, the NT's rooftop that overlooks the Thames. A gourmet picnic awaits those lucky enough to have tickets for the exclusive series of events.

Alfresco food
Dishes available at the picnic on The Deck include potted ham with piccalilli, Scotch eggs, smoked salmon and fennel salad, and a salad of asparagus, broad bean, summer squash and goat's cheese. Sweet treats and refreshing drinks such as summer berry trifle, Pimms and homemade lemonade are also available.

Plays at the National Theatre
Following the success of the last year's events in the picnics and plays at National Theatre series, The Deck is hosting a further programme of events over the summer of 2010. The alfresco lunch is followed by performances of plays such as Danton's Death, The Habit of Art and Welcome to Thebes.

The Picnics and Plays at National Theatre run from Saturday 2nd August - Friday 20th August 2010. Tickets cost £55.00 per person, and early booking is advised. To buy tickets, call the National Theatre box office on 0207 452 3000.
