As part of the ping pong project Ping! taking place across London over the summer, various different institutions are getting geared up for the unusual festival. Hosting a varity of different ping pong events London is the first city in the UK to get the full on Ping! treatment.

Ping pong events
London is set to be home to 100 roving ping pong tables this summer as the Ping! project invites commuters, tourists, students, kids and everyone in the vacinity of a table to pick up a bat and start playing. With venues including parks, squares, museums, galleries, stations, shopping centres and gardens, there is simply nowhere you can go without coming across a free to play ping pong table just waiting to tempt you.

Masterclasses for all
You may not be a table tennis wonder, but everyone can get to grips with ping pong with a little bit of coaching. Thursday 5th August 2010 is the day when Spin in the Square takes place with a variety of ping pong events and masterclasses for those who want to learn the speediest shots and the cleverest curves. You may not end up quite as speedy as the Chinese world champions, but you might be able to beat your colleagues in a lunchtime match, which is surely just as satisfying.

Quizzes, lectures and a passport to Pingland
Whether you want to get to grips with the basics of table tennis, take part in mentally challenging games or win yourself a free bat, there are plenty of ping pong events taking place throughout London to quench your ping pong urges. Take part in the literary ping pong quiz at the British Library or the late night Ping quiz at the Natural History Museum. The Geoffrye Museum hosts a fun and intriguing history of the game, whilst players in the Golden Square can go looking for love in a one off singles event. You can even win your own table tennis bat with various ping pong challenges at different locations throughout the festival.

Sing n Ping
Organised by Sing London, the people who love to get everyone singing, the Sing n Ping is a very special event taking place at Victoria Embankment Gardens on Friday 20th August 2010. Here ping pong fans can enjoy a summer sing a long and a ping a long from 6.30pm onwards.

The ping pong events London programme takes place as part of Ping! London from Saturday 24th July - Sunday 22nd August 2010 at various locations around London. For more information on times, dates and booking, click on the link below.
