RUDE STAFF at Ping Pong. My friends and I took part in a dress up and eat for free offer in the Spitalfields branch. A waiter came to our table pointing out that I was wearing 'jeans' (they were linen trousers) and the offer would not be valid. He insisted I better get changed into fancy dress and walked away. The staff serving us was very nice but when we asked for our bill another waitress asked us to have our picture taken. I did not want this but she replied that I had no choice. She started arguing with me and embarrassed me not only in front of my friends, but also in front of the other guests. When taking our drinks payment she suggested that while this was a good deal for us, this promotion is 'very bad' for the restaurant. Upon leaving she reminded us we ought to have booked. Apparently we were a too large group of people and they will have to 'be prepared' for us. Of course, we had rung the branch in the afternoon wanting to do exactly that, at which point we were told no booking was necessary...
We went to a few Ping Pong, non of them have good service. Especially the one in south bank - it is a disgrace. Why do we want to pay to get such awful service when the food is not that particular good?! The host of Ping Pong should be fired, or maybe the manager, if they don't understand the value of customer, or if they don't want to serve, why are they there? I know some restaurants just happen to have big investment behind, so they afford to have best locations, no matter what they serve, or how bad is the service, people just flood in. Unless you have no place to eat, otherwise, don't bother. Go to Ping Pong, just waste your money! Go to china town, you can get better dimsum and better service!
I have now been to Ping Pong at Great Marlborough Street four times.
I don't have too much Dim Sum experience and so the only thing to say is that I really like the food there.
At 6.00pm the crowd is a mix of before party-goers, shoppers, families and tourists.
The service is okay if you consider that it is kind of a fast food restaurant, so no place to linger and don't expect too much friendliness.
The interior is black wood and on the lower floor the tables feature a backlit middle part.
Very poor quality Dim Sum compared to what you can get if you walk 5 mins to China Town. All prepared in a factory offsite and delivered frozen. For the lower quality I would expect lower prices, some how people still go rather then get it fresher, cheaper and taster in China Town. You would be hard pressed to catch any Chinese customers there.
My sister and I had a great time last night! Cocktails = Great .. The Kumquat Mojito rocked, Spring rolls and dumplings = crispy and tasty and the chocolate bun for pudding .. well what can I say apart from "Oh. My. God!".
Ping Pong is brilliant. I have been there a couple of times now. The dumplings are amazing and the cocktails are some of the best I have enjoyed. I will definitely go back to Ping Pong.
Have been to Ping Pong a couple of times now and on both occasions received great food, good service and the chinese tea served in a glass was a wee delightful surprise. Will definitely return to Ping Pong when I'm in the area.
