Taking Andy Warhol's notorious suggestion that good business is the best art, the Pop Life exhibition London event explores the ways in which artists have collaborated with the mass media and created their own personal brands since the 1980s.

Major exhibition at Tate Modern
Featuring work from Tracey Emin, Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons and other contemporary artists, this major show at Tate Modern explores the enduring legacy that Andy Warhol, perhaps the most influential figure within Pop Art, left to successive generations. The Pop Life exhibition London event examines how these and other artists have deliberately engaged with the publicity industry and marketplace to take their work further into work of commerce, outside of the traditional confines of the art gallery.

Art after Warhol
Titled Pop Life: Art in a Material World, the Pop Life exhibition London event challenges the typical view that the artist's combination of culture and commerce is a betrayal of higher artistic ideals, and argues that this blurring of the boundaries is a bold and new development in contemporary art. Aside from Emin, Hirst and Koons, other artists whose work features in the show include Keith Haring, Martin Kippenberger, Takahi Murakami and Richard Prince.

Young British Artists
Within the Pop Life exhibition London display at Tate Modern, a gallery is dedicated to the so called Young British Artists, which features objects from the Bethnal Green shop created by Tracey Emin and Sarah Lucas. Gavin Turk's Pop 1993 is also on show, as well as pieces by Damien Hirst that reflect his recent Sotheby's auction.

Reconstructions
The Pop Life: Art in a Material World show also includes a reconstruction of Keith Haring's Pop Shop, which was first opened in New York in 1986 to sell merchandise by the artist such as t-shirts, magnets and toys. Made in Heaven by Jeff Koons, which was premiered at the Venice Biennial in 1990, is also on show at the Tate Modern.

Andy Warhol
Appropriately enough, the exhibition also takes a close look at Andy Warhol's late work, which reflects his projects as a TV personality, pararazzo, and self publicity guru. Highlights include works from Warhols Retropectives or Reversals series, the echoes of which can be found in work by artists such as Martin Kippenberger and Tracey Emin.

Giant rabbit in Covent Garden
To celebrate the opening of the Pop Life show, a giant helium balloon rabbit by Jeff Koons will be displayed in Covent Garden for a short time. Click on the link below for more information.
