Pop Up Pavilion London

Pop Up Pavilion London

When

Thursday 20th May - Saturday 14th August 2010

Where

London parks

Join dancers from Sadler's Wells and the English National Ballet amongst other performers at the pop up pavilion. London parks and green spaces across the capital are hosting the inflatable, mobile pavilion as it goes on tour across the capital over the summer.

Portavilion project
The brainchild of German art and architecture collective Raumlabor-Berlin, the pop up pavilion London event sees dance performances and live music taking place within a mobile, inflatable pavilion. As the Portavilion that houses the events can be squeezed inbetween trees, under bridges and into corners, expect to see the translucent bubble looking a little bit different each time you see it in a new park or open space.

Live dance performances
The Greenwich Dance Academy, Sadler's Wells and English National Ballet are all making contributions to the pop up pavilion London programme, alongside East London Dance and Siobhan Davies Dance organisations. Alongside all the unique dance performances, there's also special events from the likes of the Tate Modern, Royal Society of Arts and The Roundhouse.

Summer of dance
The many of the events in the Portavilion pop up pavilion London programme tie in with the Big Dance festival, but keep an eye out too for special events that coincide with the London Festival of Architecture and other festivals taking place over the summer. The Portavilion is taking a tour of parks within the five east London boroughs that are due to host the Olympic Games in 2012, before it travels into central London.
