Popcorn at Heaven

One of London’s most iconic gay-friendly clubs has been packing out the vaults beneath Charing Cross Station for almost 30 years. In 2008 it was taken over by the equally iconic celebrity-magnet G-A-Y. Popcorn at Heaven is their popular Monday night event where students can get in free all night (for everyone else you’ll have to make sure you get there before 12am to get off with not paying the £8 entry fee).

Popcorn Prices
You can’t really argue with free entry, which has made Popcorn at Heaven a firm favourite with students and anyone hit by the credit crunch. Although clubbing on a Monday isn’t for everyone, the drink prices may just change your mind. Regular special offers can see drinks slip as low at £1.80 before midnight. Anyone who’s been to Heaven on other nights when the prices rise will know that this is a great deal and a cheap way of experiencing this club.

Pumping Tunes
Resident DJs Jonesey, Bodum, Lisa German, Gordon John, Ariel, Terry Vietheer and Steven Geller regularly hit the decks at Popcorn at Heaven, playing an eclectic sound of all genres of house, commercial tunes and RnB, depending on what mood you’re in.

Heavenly Club
Heaven has been a mainstay on London’s gay scene for years. There are five rooms, each with a dance floor, encompassing six bars and even a chill out cinema. During Popcorn at Heaven nights the main dance floor offers commercial house, the Star Bar pumps out electro and funky house, the Dakota Bar is a firm favourite with RnB, hip hop and chart lovers, and the Departure Lounge adds a cool edge of disco and garage hits, whilst The Bedroom (complete with beds!) is the place to go to listen to chilled house beats.

An up for it Crowd
This is a student night, so you can expect lots of students heading down to make the most of the free entry and dirt cheap drinks. However, you’ll also find people looking to escape the credit-crunch busting prices of the weekend. Heaven is a gay club, but it’s straight-friendly so you’ll find a hedonistic mix of clubbers just out to have fun.

Popcorn at Heaven takes place from 11pm - 6am every Monday. Entry is free all night for students. For non-students tickets cost £8 after 12am and are available on the door.
