Live music, art, culture and fashion all come together in the Portobello Winter Festival this December as the unique spirit of the area gets festive for three whole days. Whether you want to go shopping for unusual gifts, find a perfect party outfit or chill to some tunes, the Portobello Winter Festival has it all sorted.
Portobello Winter Festival
A truly cosmopolitan winter wonderland, the mini Christmas festival brings treats for all in the form of an alternative Xmas mix. Limited edition music stalls rub shoulders with vendors selling hot cocktails, and street art sellers stand along side international Christmas cuisine stalls including West Indian barbecue, hog roast and german bratwurst. DJs and live music acts complete the lineup for what is set to be a fantastic festive celebration.
Music and cocktails
Joining the merry throng from Friday 19th December onwards is the legendary Rough Trade who will be hosting a stall crammed with all your musical wants. Renowned for their comprehensive approach to all music genres, there will be something to please everyone. Sitting alongside them at the bar for the Portobello Winter Festival will be the Notting Hill Arts Club as they take over the bar. Expect unusual mixing and spirited (literally) cocktails that will warm your winter cockles, and put hairs on your chest.
Live music and DJs in the house
In the evening, the Portobello Winter Festival gets a little funky as it invites a lineup of top bands and DJs to entertain all those within. You will be treated to the sounds of The Thirst, Ebony Bones, Riz MC, Bridgette Amofah and many more besides. Resident DJ Dub will also be spinning the wheels of steel throughout the afternoons, keeping the Christmas shoppers in the mood for Yuletide fun.
Mixing up the cutting edge youth culture of Notting Hill and Ladbroke Grove and combining it with the local talent for art, craft, design and music, the Portobello Winter Festival is certain to be one of the hottest tips for a funky festive period this Christmas.
The Portobello Winter Festival takes place at The Bridge and is open from 11am - 11pm Friday 19th December and Saturday 20th December, and 11am - 6pm Sunday 21st December 2008. Entry is free from 11am - 7pm, and a small donation is expected thereafter.
