An exhibition on psychoanalysis at Science Museum takes place to explore the nature of the treatment in all forms. Including both modern and historical artefacts, artworks and digital contributions, the exhibition sets out to get to grips with the power of the mind.

Psychoanalysis at Science Museum
Psychoanalysis, the Unconscious in Everyday Life both celebrates and delves into the world of the unconscious mind, as it focuses on how the workings of the mind can be explored through everyday experiences and objects. As the exhibition uncovers the range of psycholanalytic techniques used throughout history, visitors are able to hear and see contribiutions from a range of artists, scientists and thinkers on the subject.

Art on show
Some of the main highlights of the exhibition on Psychoanalysis at Science Museum are the contemporary artworks which take the form of expanding on psychoanalytical ideas. With works contributed by artists such as Grayson Perry and Noble and Webster, along with pieces of art specifically created in collaboration with leading psychoanalysts, this exhibition is set to attract not just those with an scientific mind, but fans of the artworld too.

Museum highlights
Other notable inclusions in the exhibition come from collections not only at the Science Museum, but the Wellcome Library and Freud Museum. Visitors will be fascinated to see several ancient statuettes including a Greek and Egyptian death mask. Also on show in Psychoanalysis at Science Museum are a selection children's drawings from the Melanie Klein Archive, and various casts of faces, feet, eyes and phalluses.

The exhibition on Psychoanalysis at Science Museum takes place from 10am - 6pm, from Wednesday 13th October 2010 - Sunday 30th April 2011. Entrance is free.

Please note that this exhibition is for over 16s only and not suitable for children.
